| Ingested MARIJUANA!!!! I am so ticked off right now. How do I begin? Well, my husband and I have been slowly moving our family into a new apartment for the last couple of weeks. Yesterday was our last day doing so, so I left my kids and Sheldon with one of my friends who I trust completely. We work all day and go to pick everyone up. I ask how the day went and she told me good. Sheldon didn't eat much, but other than that, no problems. I get home and feed Sheldon and he happily eats it up. About ten minutes later, he throws it up. At this point, we've only been home about twenty minutes. After he throws up, he starts to wobble, tip over, can't stand up, eyes unfocused, extremely lethargic. I immediately think it is hypoglycemia, so I start giving Nutri-cal and call the emergency vet. After I get a bit of Nutri-cal in him, I rush to the vet. Blood panel is normal, blood sugar is good, temperature is good, but heart rate is a little slow. Vet notices that pupils are very dilated and eyes are glassy, so he asks me if there was any chance the pup ingested anything. I tell him I know he hasn't at my home, but explained he was with a friend that day. So I call the friend and ask her. She tells me she didn't see him eat anything, but when her husband returns from the store she'd ask him. I get a call back about ten minutes late from my friend. When she was asking her husband about it, she told him that Sheldon was really sick. That is when her fifteen year old daughter started crying and came clean. She had a half a joint in her room that she now cannot find. I relay this info to the vet and got to bring Shelly home. Keep him fed and hydrated and he will likely just sleep it off. If not showing improvement by the morning, take him back to his regular vet. Ugh.....it was so scary. A flipping nightmare, and I want to choke my friend's daughter out. Fortunately, though still a little lethargic, Sheldon is doing much, much better this morning. He is no longer wobbling, he can stand without tilting and he is eating and drinking on his own. It's so not funny, but I have never seen an animal as stoned as he was. It was crazy. So, needless to say, no more leaving Dr. Cooper with dog sitters. Sigh. |

| OMG, how horrible, poor lil Sheldon, what the poor lil fellow must have went through. Thank god he appears to be better. Reason I won't let anyone watch my baby. My friend has a huge motor home, going on vacation Sept. 1st for a month. Mon. he asks do I want a break, I ask what he means, he says he would like to take Cody with him on his trip to RI. lol, I tell him I would be worried to death to have him out of my sight for 2 minutes let alone a month. No one watches my baby like I do, I trust no one. I take him all over with me unless I go food shopping. If he cannot go where I go, then I don't go. I am looking to put him in doggie day care, just to socialize him with other dogs. I would LOVE it if he enjoyed playing with other dogs We have a new dog park that I would love to bring him to. I don't know how he gets along with other dogs. When I take him into Pet Supplies he goes into crazy mode, like he wants to fight. I have to think hard on this,I know it would be good for him to get along with other dogs, but the thought I would not be there to supervise or protect if needed worries me. So glad Sheldon is ok.

| I can imagine how terrifying it was for you. I'm really glad Sheldon is going to be okay and that your friend's daughter told you what must have happened. That must have been difficult for her and her parents. It's awful this happened, but it would be worse if you didn't know what caused it.

| I would be LIVID with anger. I would also make them pay for the ER Vet Bill. I am glad that Sheldon is going to be OK.

| Thank goodness she fest up otherwise the poor little guy probably would have gone through a lot of unnecessary test not to mention your expense. So glad he is improving.

| On one hand, it's great that your friend's daughter fessed up. On the other hand... I think I'd be TOO furious to give her that credit. I'm really glad Sheldon's okay and hopefully your friend's daughter will learn a good lesson from this. |

| Thankfully, the bill was only $130, and we have pet insurance, so we will be reimbursed 80% of that. He is steadily improving and pretty much back to himself now, even had himself one of his feisty little play sessions a little while ago, and is now napping in his crate. I'm trying to kind of make him take it easy and rest a lot today. |
