Default Ingested MARIJUANA!!!!

I am so ticked off right now. How do I begin? Well, my husband and I have been slowly moving our family into a new apartment for the last couple of weeks. Yesterday was our last day doing so, so I left my kids and Sheldon with one of my friends who I trust completely. We work all day and go to pick everyone up. I ask how the day went and she told me good. Sheldon didn't eat much, but other than that, no problems.

I get home and feed Sheldon and he happily eats it up. About ten minutes later, he throws it up. At this point, we've only been home about twenty minutes. After he throws up, he starts to wobble, tip over, can't stand up, eyes unfocused, extremely lethargic. I immediately think it is hypoglycemia, so I start giving Nutri-cal and call the emergency vet. After I get a bit of Nutri-cal in him, I rush to the vet. Blood panel is normal, blood sugar is good, temperature is good, but heart rate is a little slow. Vet notices that pupils are very dilated and eyes are glassy, so he asks me if there was any chance the pup ingested anything. I tell him I know he hasn't at my home, but explained he was with a friend that day. So I call the friend and ask her. She tells me she didn't see him eat anything, but when her husband returns from the store she'd ask him.

I get a call back about ten minutes late from my friend. When she was asking her husband about it, she told him that Sheldon was really sick. That is when her fifteen year old daughter started crying and came clean. She had a half a joint in her room that she now cannot find. I relay this info to the vet and got to bring Shelly home. Keep him fed and hydrated and he will likely just sleep it off. If not showing improvement by the morning, take him back to his regular vet.

Ugh.....it was so scary. A flipping nightmare, and I want to choke my friend's daughter out. Fortunately, though still a little lethargic, Sheldon is doing much, much better this morning. He is no longer wobbling, he can stand without tilting and he is eating and drinking on his own.

It's so not funny, but I have never seen an animal as stoned as he was. It was crazy. So, needless to say, no more leaving Dr. Cooper with dog sitters. Sigh.
