| Crate rest ideas Ok June 6th Callie gets LP surgery which means crate rest for 8 weeks. The first two weeks she is not gonna feel like doing much at least that's how it was last time. After that I'm am looking for things to keep her busy obviously without moving much. I have a kong and plan to download some recipes for it and I have some chews. Is there anything else anyone can recommend or something they used when there yorkie was on crate rest? She was so miserable and bored last time.

| I don't have any suggestions but will pray that everything goes ok and she recovers quickly. Poor baby. How much older is she now than she was at her first surgery? I ask because my 7 year old is much calmer/quieter than my 1.5 year old. Maybe she won't be as difficult to keep calm this time.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | How come 8 weeks of crate rest is needed? When Wylie had LP surgery, he had no crate rest at all - in fact, it was recommended that he not be inactive (he couldn't be too active either, ie no running etc). Ideas: Kong CET chews RMBs (won't get germs all over either, so might be nice to try) Dog TV (or dog DVDs or something?) LOTS OF VALIUM

Yeah, Wylie wasn't allowed to run or fetch for a good while, that's for sure. But he wanted Wylie slow-walking quite soon after the bandages came off, to make sure mobility wasn't impaired from inactivity. We didn't do any crate rest, but luckily it wasn't tough keeping him quiet / not running. My biggest fear was him trying to jump down when we had him up on the bed. I hope Callie does great w/ her healing, I know she'll do great w/ you keeping her entertained.

| I purchased a small stroller (much smaller than the ATV Petgear that we usually use). It collapses like an umbrella stroller I think it is also made by petgear. It was handy in the house and didn't take up that much room. It worked to maneuver from room to room... so when you are in the kitchen making dinner, you can just wheel it in there with you... helps keep the boredom level down.
