The thing is sense this is a public message board your probably going to get a lot of opinions about it. I don't think to many people on here have done them. I only remember posts from two different people about them and I'm not sure they still post. You might want to google dog DNA tests you might get a few articles or reviews.

I believe only one of those questions asked if anyone had tried it. So naturally, other people are going to comment, as that's the beauty of a public forum.
hahahaa okay. thanks for clarifying

Starting with Post #54, you might want to scan through this thread to its conclusion for some more information on the trustworthiness/types/database make-up of DNA testing in dogs as to the breed make-up.

People here have done the test, but I don't believe in the accuracy of any of the tests. Frankly, I don't think the answers are going to be any more conclusive that what the breeder of your pups told you.

In terms of personality, there is no one personality for each breed. Yorkies here vary widely in personality. Some are energetic and feisty, others are quiet and mellow. If your pups are Morkies, it won't really make a difference. Each dog, no matter what the breed, is an individual and the fun is to watch their personality develop.

I did the blood test on Cookie and felt it was very accurate. My vet said that it is more accurate than the swab (saliva) test. I have seen the results of those tests and none of them seemed to be even close.
My Cookie was found to be yorkie/border terrier and she definitely seems to be just that! She looks yorkie, but has thick wiry hair and has a very strong terrier personality.

Kimmi -- please STOP telling people what they are and are not allowed to post on ANY thread. They are all WELCOME to post their opinions on this thread. This is now the second time I've mentioned this to you. So please this time, I highly recommend that you STOP. Thank you.

When I first saw the pix of your pups I thought they were chocolate yorkies as they looking nothing like a standard yorkie in coloring. They are very cute.
I had my rescue's DNA done by two different companies. Both came back as 100% Maltese. I did the second one because he is really big but I guess maltese are like yorkies - you can get a teapot just as easily as a tiny.

poor Kimmi she can't get a break, on another thread people did suggest she get a DNA test so that is what she is trying to do. I don't want to tell anyone how to post but personally instead of telling her every bad thing about them I am going to do as she asked and contact my friend Catia who thought she had a morkie rescue but the DNA test came back that she had I believe a cavalier bichon mix, she seemed happy with the accuracy. Linda what company did you go through to get Cookie's done?

Yes, absolutely! Wisdom Panel is the best test out there for determining breed purity and mixed breeds (if any) in your dog's background. I'm proud to say that my Bella was chosen to be one of their Yorkshire Terrier data points. The kit comes with swabs that you used to collect mouth cells. You are not supposed to allow the dog to eat before testing. We swabbed Bella first thing in the morning before we put out her food bowl, and the results were impeccable. Just be sure to follow all of the directions. Results come back in about three weeks and are available online. They will let you know if your dog is purebred, and if not, what other breeds are in its ancestry (the test can only go back three generations). If your dog is purebred, they will show a Principal Component Analysis that shows where your dog falls in with other dogs of the same breed. They will also show how inbred your dog is, and how that matches with other dogs of the same breed. Fabulous product at a great value.

For those who are skeptical of Wisdom Panel, it's the best test out there (nothing is 100% perfect), using state of the art technology, and it is improving as they add more dogs to their dataset. I'm a geneticist by profession, and no, Mars Inc. and Wisdom Panel did not pay me to say good things about them .

Here is their website: http://www.wisdompanel.com/

and who cares if it comes back wrong. I have the money, I wanna take a chance and I wanna do it. lol. it's worth a shot. it's all i got. and no matter how much i love my little babies, i deserve to know what breed my dog is. it's my choice.

and wisdom panel is the one i've heard about as well being pretty good. i'm leaning more towards that one.
I'm sorry that I'm late to this thread. Use Wisdom Panel, and let us know how it all turns out! Here's the link to the post where I describe Bella's results:

I'm going to get the Wisdom Panel for my poodle mix girl to see if it gives us any idea as to what she is mixed with (shelter said maltese, vet and groomer think bichon). Im going into it knowing it may not work, but still want to try

Wow, they're freakin' adorable. More than likely not Yorkies though. Look more like 'Morkies' or maybe even YorkiePoo.

While Yorkies can all look different (due to either bad breeding or simply an 'off' pup) they all tend to have a fairly distinct 'look' as a puppy and your pups (in the nicest way possible, they're SERIOUSLY adorable) don't really have that purebred Yorkie look.
Wow, they look like Chocolate Yorkies! Are their noses brown too? I will be VERY interested in seeing your Wisdom Panel results, because the chocolate gene was bred in from another breed a few generations back, and I want to see if Wisdom Panel will detect it. Your dogs look like they *could* be purebred Yorkies to me, other than the color.

I was told by my vet that the blood test and the saliva test have different results. Your opinion on that?

I have never seen anyone get what I considered even CLOSE results when using the swab. I have only seen a few, but pretty ridiculous results imho.
