| Are all Yorkies that cuddly ? I never had a dog before and I'm really surprised at how my Penny is behaving. She's 6 months old right now and she is the biggest cuddler ever. She will always sleep/lay in my lap unless I tell her not to, then she will lay down beside me. All the times when I'm in kitchen, out on a walk or just talking to someone, she will put her bum on my foot and sit down I'm taking her tomorrow to get her spayed, so that plus her growing up I'm thinking that the personality might change and she might get more independant. |

| None of my spayed/neutered dogs changed their personalities, habits or interactions with me after surgery. And most Yorkies seem to need to be near, touching or actually on their favorite person when they are not up running the world. I've had 3 and all were that way.

| That's great to hear, right now I'm upstairs and she's sleeping under computer desk near my feet We hoped the dog would be friendly, wife really wanted one that would lie with her, nap with her, and she's loving Penny's character. |

| Haha. Sounds pretty typical. You or your wife will likely never go to the bathroom alone again now that you have a Yorkie!

| I have 4 four females,(all now past), over the last 30 years, 2 not spayed, 2 spayed, no change in their habits, or personality. Always cuddling or lap sitting, always where you are. There will be no change in her. Enjoy that lil baby of yours.

| Both of my yorkies were/are big time cuddlers. If I'm sitting Leiloni is on my lap, chest or neck. Even when I'm working on my dresses,,, she wants to be on my lap but when sewing there just not enough room for her so she'll squeeze herself between my backside and the chair. Good thing its one of those big capton computer chairs because I don't think she would be too happy if she had to actually lay in one of her 3 comfy pillow beds she has throughout the house that she never really uses. LOL

| Jackson's not. Never has been though. If anything, he got a bit more cuddlier AFTER being neutered (but still isn't a big one). He curls up to me at night and in the morning in bed, and likes being in the same room as me, but he's not a dog that wants to be in my lap for long.

| You are very lucky. Mine won't cuddle at all. He has to be everywhere that I am, including the bathroom, but he won't cuddle. He will only sleep near my feet and won't sit on my lap. He doesn't even like being petted really. It makes me very sad. Like I am doing something wrong. |

| I think yours is still pretty young. Ours started to sit/sleep on on our lap around 4-5months old, before I never really noticed that. I also noticed she loves to lay on her back so we can pet her on her stomach, she starts to smile a bit and really enjoys it, spreads her back legs apart as much as she can |

| My Penny is not a cuddly dog at all. She doesn't like to be held unless she's really sleepy. When we got her at 5 months, she would cuddle in bed at night and have to be touching someone. She's almost a year old now and won't even do that anymore. My mix on the other hand is super cuddly and very clingy.

| My little Hannah at 16 mos. is becoming more cuddly every day. Our nighttime routine is so precious and I really treasure this time with her. Under the covers she goes and she stretches her little body out with her belly next to me. If I move she moves to get close. If I get out of bed she sits up and waits for me to get back in and then she repeats with her little stretch. She loves to be rocked and if I roll her on her back and hold her little head in my hands she falls to sleep in seconds.

| It is my understanding that this is the nature of most yorkies. My friends always think it is so cute how Strudel has to be thisclose to me at all times lol. As other posters have reported, you won't have to worry about being alone EVER again! Strudel goes with me everywhere, the kitchen, right outside the shower, to the market and on trips. He is truly my little buddy. If yorkies had a warning label it would read "Warning, must love a furry little shadow". I love it, but I could see someone who was not prepared for that level of love being kind of annoyed or perplexed.
