I never had a dog before and I'm really surprised at how my Penny is behaving.
She's 6 months old right now and she is the biggest cuddler ever. She will always sleep/lay in my lap unless I tell her not to, then she will lay down beside me.
All the times when I'm in kitchen, out on a walk or just talking to someone, she will put her bum on my foot and sit down

I'm taking her tomorrow to get her spayed, so that plus her growing up I'm thinking that the personality might change and she might get more independant.
