| my little girl is getting spayed on the 22nd my little Maggie is getting spayed.. and I'm a nervous wreck... she is 4 years old...and I hope everything goes well...I'm worried about how much pain she will be in when I take her home... she is such a spunky and loveable little girl and I'm hoping this will not change her disposition.. I still want that loveable little girl in her... after she is healed...

| I've had five Yorkie girls and none had any personality changes. It's a little tougher on a four year old than a puppy, but your little girl will feel much better after a few days. I would have blood work done before she has anesthesia just to be safe. I understand your worrying, but Maggie should be fine. I definitely would make sure she comes home with pain medication.

| My little girl was no different after her spay. She was 7 months old and 2 pounds but she was still the same little girl I would have them run tests first before the surgery though. I did with Izzy . She also had a reaction to the pain meds so she couldn't take them but she did ok.

| That first day though, that was kind of rough. When I brought Cookie home from the surgery she just stood there with her head down in the most pathetic looking pose. It probably took 30-45 minutes before I could get her to lie down and relax. And then she puked up all her meals that day and night even though I was feeding her very small portions of wet food. I gave her ice cubes to keep her hydrated without ingesting a lot of water that might cause vomiting.

| Don't forget to get your girl a onesie to wear to keep her away from those stitches. I switched up between two newborn baby bathing suits I picked up at the Dollar Tree lol.

| If it helps, I have a whole play by play of my experience with Cookie's spay here: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...e-spaying.html A couple other awesome posters (Zoey & Quad) had their pups spayed at the same time and discussed their spays in that thread too.
