You can't to into a store that sells dog toys w/out leaving with yet another one because that furball at home loves to get new toys from the package and gets so excited when you walk in the door saying "I've got a new present for you!".

You don't understand why people think some of the things you do are odd/gross/whatever. Examples: talking to your dog, letting them eat off people plates, etc

My mom has fallen into that trap. Lola sits pretty when she comes in with bags.

To make it worse, Lola doesn't destroy her toys so now she has over 30. I told her she needs to start taking one of Lola's less played with toys to give her.

Oh, I absolutely talk to my dogs and always have. They study us so closely and know so much about our schedule, associate so much and observe, observe, observe, they actually understand in some way a lot of what I say. When I say "I've got to go to the store", Tibbe immediately gets hangdog without my ever moving a muscle and then soon thereafter starts begging to go with me - again even if I've never moved. He knows exactly what that phrase means. Same with "Are you hungry/Do you want dinner?", "Time for walkies", "Do you want to train?", "Want me to chase you?", "Danny's coming over", "Mommie's got to work now" and on and on.

He immediately reacts appropriately to each of those so I know he understands much of what I say in all of my various ways of saying it as I don't use the same phrases over and over. So I don't even think talking to my dog makes me a crazy dog person since they get most of what I'm saying.

Whenever you have to travel, even if it's a quick trip (like a funeral) and your spouse is home, you spend more money on tickets for your dogs than yourself, and you now check a bag (full of things for them) where in the past you only brought a carry-on so you didn't have to spend the extra money.

Or, you just don't go.......

You know you're a crazy dog person when . . . you are willing to sound foolish in public cheering loudly "Woohoo! Oh yeah!" when your pup does the kicking potty dance, because it makes your pup happy.

Dog/pet deaths kill you.

I've stopped watching some shows over it, I used to watch Taxi as a kid and stopped because I was so upset when one of their dogs died, the dog wasn't even on the show.

I won't watch Frankenweenie.

I cried so hard when Hedwig and Dobby died in the last Harry Potter book, the other deaths didn't bother me half as much.

I can handle people death/injury/sickness/abuse much better. I read a lot of medical and history things without a problem and they can be very brutal.

My husband and I were at Chateau Élan (5 star winery and hotel), and during dinner I kept looking at Ian on the webcam at Camp Bow Wow! I think some people may have thought that I was praying since I was looking down a lot!

Ian gets birthday and Christmas cards in the mail! Some of the Christmas cards are addressed to Ian and family!

I'm right there with you. I've worked in a surgeon's office for my whole life and quickly learned not to be distracted by human suffering all that much but all that comes to a screeching halt when I see a dog who is sick/injured. I can barely hold myself together when it's a dog in trouble. And it's getting worse with me.

I was driving home yesterday when I saw 10 or 11 cars pulled over to the side of a feeder road off LBJ Freeway that I take home and I slowed down. All of the people were out of their cars which were parked anyhow along the way and congregated around something in the center of the group. I wondered if it were a fight or a wreck/pedestrian struck with a victim down but couldn't see any damaged cars and heard no sirens on the way. As I drove by very, very slowly, I saw the crowd part to reveal three people lifting a full-grown, gorgeous German Shepherd dog, with one lifting under his chest, one his middle and another his hind quarters and were carrying him toward an SUV with the hatch open. The dog was awake, his big brown eyes were pretty wide open and his ears were way out to the sides as if he were in distress so I imagine the poor guy had just been struck by a car.

He looked right at me with those big, brown eyes as I drove slowly by and I just burst into tears and cried all the way home. He looked so pitiful, confused and obviously in real trouble and it just hit me so hard seeing a dog that way. I wanted to call around to the vets' clinics and vet ER nearby and just see if they could tell me anything about him but decided they all probably had their hands full with the dogs they had in their clinics and wouldn't tell me anything anyway. I felt such an instant connection to him. But thankfully he had a whole lot of rescuers and people already helping him so I'm certain he got whatever vet care he needed with that many people stopping to help and obviously concerned about him. I have thought a lot and worried about him since and just pray he's going to be okay.

That must have been awful. I'm so glad someone was helping him.
I can't watch those animal cop shows and I turn off the humane society ads on tv. I have seen enough suffering animals and I don't need to be reminded by the television. It is good to know that there are still enough caring people to rescue a dog hit in the road. I have seen far too many people who always figure someone else will do it and drive or walk right by.
