| I've heard it called lipstick, (the penis being out) on this site, seems apt. This happened to Caleb, it seemed stuck for awhile. If it hadn't gone back in, I'd of bathed him and tried to put it back, if that failed tried Vaseline. Has it returned now? You can find other threads on this subject on this site.

| Magnus's "lipstick" came out before when he was a pup. It only happened when he would see these two dogs in my neighborhood. He'd get super excited, roll over to show his tummy, then BAM! There it was... LOL I was embarrassed the first time it happened. It went back in on its own so I never thought anything of it. |

| Here we go!! Another "ooops" breeding!! That bear should have already been "fixed"!!! Seriously......Your baby boy is maturing and you will really be looking at getting him neutered in another couple of months....not saying neutering will stop this activity, saying this activity is an indicator of hormonal changes taking place. |

| Neutering doesn't stop it. Kaji's Mr Peeper makes an appearance now and again and he was neutered 4 years ago. It's not a big deal as it goes away rather quickly. One of the show breeders on here mentioned having the vet check to make sure a boys growth plates have closed before having them neutered. You might want to look into that before going forward with the neuter.

| Bubba was neutered at 6 mo old. I never saw him hump until he was about a year and a half. Now, after dinner (never after breakfast) he goes and finds his donut bed and has his way with it. Sometime just a short hump but sometimes all the way. He will walk around hunched over. It using resolves but when it doesn't he has to be checked. If his hair is too long it can be trapped. Usually, a cold shower will work (only kidding). Some people use sugar. Oddsock, if this happens again, I would buy a water soluble lubricant, such as surgi lube or one of the female lubricants. Vaseline is not water soluble and may cause problems if used internally. Bubba is 9, now, and it is his favorite after dinner activity. My husband will occasionally ask him if he would like a cigarette. The only time it is a problem is when we have dinner quests.

| Thanks for the tip. He's hardly humped since being neutered, so hopefully it won't be an issue.

| Hi! If his lipstick comes out and retracts back in easily I wouldn't worry about it. O' the joys of having little boys If it doesn't go back in and starts to look dried and even discolored it's called Paraphimosis. Sometimes it's just the tangling of hair around the base of the penis that is keeping it from going back into the sheath. Other causes are more serious like infections, congenial abnormalities, foreign bodies and tumors. Either way, if his lipstick does not go back in, it needs to be seen by a vet. The issue can cause bladder/urinary trouble. Often times, cold compresses to reduce any swelling and dextrose solution applied to the penis by a vet may help it go back in. Sounds like he is just being a little boy dog though. If his lipstick goes back in, I wouldn't worry about it. |
