| He does the same with the oven. When the timer dings, he makes a beeline to the kitchen just waiting to see what Mama made.

| YT 1000 Club Member | I'm not sure if I'd call my guys hearty eaters, but, they (have 4) do consume a lot. I have several kinds (Beef/Foul/Sea) of Food out for them 24/7 and they go through several (2 cup) bowls per week.

| Zoey and Jackson are good eaters. Since Zoey has had pancreatitis twice she is on a 1% fat food. She gobbles it up and I started giving her Royal Canin 1% fat kibble at night and you would think she was auditioning for a hungry dog commercial. She eats fat free treats like they were candy. No eating problems here.

| What a cutie he is!!! awwwww love him! I have 2 boys and I think my smaller boy at 6.5 lbs (current winter weight is 7.2lbs) is a hound. He does not eat his meals. He waits none too patiently for handouts! My bigger boy eats his meals but does not do much begging for people food at all. I don't understand why he's the bigger one! LOL

| While Mickey is a "grazer", I am totally convinced if I put the entire bag of food down, Max would eat it until he physically could eat no more. He eats his food then waits for Mickey to finish his to see if he left even a crumb.

| YT 1000 Club Member | Ha, "grazer" that's cute, I use terms like gobblers and nibblers. ![]() But, I believe that compulsive eating is a learned behavior. When I get a new pup, it finds that food is out 24/7, and, that the senior animals here don't "gobble" it up because they were raised the same way. I admit that this doesn't say much toward corrective actions, but it may be of use for someone just starting off with a new dog.

| YT 2000 Club Donating Member | I have been blessed with hearty eaters, even the Yorkie I am pet sitting is a hearty eater. And yes they all go around and check out each others bowls after meal time. They are always disappointed. Magic my big male, licks the Stainless steel bowls so clean you could have sworn they had been washed. I am not a fan of free feeding. I pre-measure and weigh out their food, I do this now, because I have found that my eye is not a good measurement tool. The new puppy we are getting will be on three meals a day for the next month, so what I will do, is divide the adult dogs meals in three, so that they all get to have three meals a day. Then they will all go back to two meals a day. Their food amounts are adjusted for exercise levels. On a heavy exercise day everyone gets three meals. Their training they do get food and toy rewards for, so I cut up the food treats very small. I usually use a mix of carrots, fresh meat cooked, small very small pieces of lowfat cheese. In a 1/2 hour training session multiple pieces of treats are used.
