| Does your Yorkie eat and get into everything? Hi All...I was just wondering if its just my Leila or if anyone else has a Yorkie and gets into everything. I swear from digging holes in my walls, chewing up my wooden table, biting her plastic bowls to trying to attach every leaf that dare blows in the wind on walks she is constantly trying to eat and tear up something. I working with her on the drop it and leave it commands but it seems so impossible to leave her alone for even a second. What makes me laugh even more is that I normally bring her to work with me and she SLEEPS ALL DAY! I cant believe how much stuff she can get into. I was wondering if she will ever grow out of this...any advise would be appreciated!

| Leo is 5 months old and never left unattended. If I have to leave him alone for any period of time he is left in an X-pen. I'm not sure how old your puppy is, but from previous experience with Yorkies I am thinking Leo will be penned for at the very least a year, possibly 2 years. |

| Oh my! I know how stressful that can be. Toki stopped doing things like that once she got older (thankfully). As a puppy, she would chew on door stoppers, wall corners, and glasses...we couldn't buy cute little dog beds without her de-stuffing them and strewing the fluff all over the place...things like that. She's over 2 years old now and isn't the destructive chewer she was as a young pup. Exercising seemed to help her to get out some of her energy and I try to give her Nylabones to keep her busy when she gets too bored and I can't entertain her. She is still an opportunist and will snag chapsticks and little papers you leave on her level when we go out but otherwise she knows what is hers and what is okay to chew on. Hopefully some others here will be able to offer you some good training advice. |

| My pup chews on pretty much everything except the house and our furniture. I think this is only because we support his $100 a month home goods toy habit :-) outside though he can pick up things on his walk so fast you don't even see it lol, so we are constantly on alert. The one thing we used to have to watch carefully was the kitties toy mice and balls, but he's destroyed them all, so that's no longer a problem :-) it was the cats fault though, they kept trying to share with him, by dropping tem in his xpen t night while we would be sleeping, so now they have no toys due to their own fault hahaha. Our house is really well childproofed though :-) I'm so glad he doesn't chew my walls or furnishings. I think it's because e has so many toys though, he is just a tiny bit spoiled and I love doing it :-) |

| Callie grew out of it. Now if she grabs a tissue that missed the trash can or something and I tell her No she will drop it and walk away from it no matter how bad she want its and trust me she wants it bad.

| My Gizmo luvs to chew on daddy's socks and mommy's underwear if he gets a hold of them. He'10 months and I gotta say he didn't really chew anything up. We made sure we kept a lot of chew toys all over and he has been really good. When we're at work, he's in his crate so no damage being done. |

Yea I have not been able to teach Gizmo the drop command yet lol. If he gets a tissue or anything he's not supposed to have, he runs like his life depends on it to save his treasure from his mean mommy hehehe. One day I was sitting and realized he was being way too good. I asked him if he was a good boy, and got that guilty look. Well I went up stairs and he had somehow gotten a whole box of Kleenex off the nightstand, and my whole bedroom looked like it had snowed. I think one of the cats may have helped him get it down because they were all laying on my bed like we didn't do anything lol. | |

| When Gracie was a pup she was always looking for something to chew. She would steal things off of end tables, out of closets, out of purses, and the list goes on and on. I was terrified that she was going to choke to death on some odd object that she got her teeth into. We had to puppy proof everything but she would still manage to find something to chew. I knew not to give her rawhide but didn't know what I should give her. Finally I read on this forum about bully sticks, many here use them, and I went to the store and got her some. Sadly, the first couple of brands I purchased were too soft and she had some bouts of diarrhea with them because she was able to ingest too much. I finally found the Best Bully brand and she loved them. It solved our chewing issues. When I first give her one she chewed for about an hour. I finally took it away from her. As she satisfied her urge to chew she needed to do it less. They are great for a youngster that needs to chew. They are digestible unlike rawhide that can cause blockages and also be a choking hazard. Gracie's raids around our home finally stopped. We buy them in lots of 5 from Best Bully on Ebay. The shipping is less there. Gracie is 3 years old now and we have never had an issues with them. Gracie still needs to chew now and then so I keep them on hand for when she gets the urge. |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Galen is a chewer. He will eat anything on the floor, leaves, dirt, tissues. . . But NOT his food! Crazy Biewer . He just loves the Nylabones. I get them from Dr Fosters and Smith. They usually have a good price and I usually spend enough to get free shipping lol I get the regular size Dental Care Toys: Nylabone Flexibones at Drs. Foster & Smith

YT 1000 Club Member | Only one (My Jr Male Ichabod) is mischievous and will seek out things to chew. He's one of the most active Dogs I've ever had, constantly runs and plays with My young Female Navi, runs in and out, it's just his high energy level. So, some will and some won't, my other three never get into anything.

| I've got a queen of mischief. I was hoping she would grow out of it but we are almost 3 and still naughty. She learned to open cabinets with her paw, she is constantly finding every scrap of paper or little thing on the ground and running around with it. The worst is we live in an apartment so I have to walk her, I taught her a leave it command but sometimes she sees the things people leave on the ground before I do. Exercise has helped some, making sure she gets out all that mischievous energy. Other than that, just supervision, vigilance and patience.

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Puppies seem to do the darndest things and yes chew on everything and everything in sight. Puppy proofing your home is a must. Be sure that you have anything of any importance or that can be harmful up and out of the way of those teeth. He is chewing because he is cutting teeth most likely. You need to make sure that he has lots of soft and hard type toys to chew on to keep him occupied so that he wont chew on just any ol thing. Plus when he is not being supervised it best to have him in an x-pen or cage for his own safely. Just an old sock with a knot tied it is great not to mention cheap! You could even try a Kong ball with a treat inside to keep him busy and hopefully out of trouble...

| Thanks for all of your guys replies! Glad to see I'm not the only one with a terror on my hands. She is 10 months now so hopefully she will grow out of it soon. I normally gate her in the living room when I leave with my 2 other fur babies but I will be purchasing a pen or crate just to make sure she cant get into anything else. Its really scary...I would die if anything happened to her! Its really funny how Yorkies are one breed that have sensitive stomachs however they love to eat everything and anything in their path. The drop it command is so far working however, now every time she finds a piece of paper or lint on the floor she will find me and bring it to me...LOL! She is to smart for her own good!

| Sophie never was one to get into or chew anything inappropriate as a pup. Since that time (she is 4) she has developed a nose for chocoate and knows who is likely to have some in her purse or tote!! This is NOT good. I have one daughter who visits on weekends and Sophie will try to get into any of her stuff since she is a chocolate fiend.
