| ![]() Welcome to YT!!!! I am a newish member here, and you will find that everyone is just sooo passionate about YT'ers ![]() ![]() As with children, these furbaby's may learn in different ways and there are lots of members who will post the way they taught theirs. The most important thing I find, as with children, is to be consistent, patient and rewarding good behaviour. As for potty training, I got lucky and my Bailey was already housebroken. Having said that, he is not w/out accidents. Because of this, I always leave some newspaper on an leak free pad just in case he has to go while I'm not here. The first night I brought Bailey home, he cried a bit, but with reassurances and petting/kissing he was fine. I have, until recently, had him sleep in a bed I made from a big plastic container with a cutout for the door, leaving a bit on each side where I wrote "Fort" on one side and "Yorkie" on the other. HAHA Inside is a bed with a blanket around it, easier to remove for washing if necessary. I keep the lid on for warmth and coziness when the weather is cool. His bed is set inside a pen so that I knew he wasn't getting into anything while I was asleep. I figured that getting him used to sleeping in his own bed would make it easier if he ever had to sleep at someone else's home. Lately though, I have had him sleeping in/on my bed, depending on how warm/cool he is. ![]() He is now almost 2 at 7.5 lbs. and every day is Christmas around here! I'm sure that most will attest to that. All the best with your sweetie and I hope that the time goes quickly until you can call your Yorkie your own!!!! Cheers from Canada ![]() ![]() |

You mentioned that now you have to wait. Have you chosen your pup yet, or are you still searching? I am no expert here, and perhaps you already know, the one prevalent health problem with Yorkies is a collapsed trachea. That is one important thing I thought to ask the person I purchased mine from. Of course the best situation would be to meet the parents, but one isn't always able to do this. Searching about YT'ers before I purchased mine, I learned that there is no such thing as a Tea Cup Yorkie, in case you didn't know. These dogs are sometimes bred with another runt, and at worse, they have been starved to look tiny. Please be aware of this, if this is the type of pup you are looking for. They usually have a myriad of health problems. Good luck! ![]() | |

| ![]() Does anyone have any experience with this breeder?? Champion Yorkshire Terrier Puppies for Sale | Yorkmont Yorkshire Terriers | Champion Yorkies From Strong Pedigree Lineage I happened to run across the website today, they look to be above board as a breeder that resides in Atlanta, GA. ~~ I did find one negative post on here about them, BUT...it looks like more of a false complaint and the person who posted was full of a bunch of BS and was looking to tarnish the breeders reputation. Even the supposed ripoff report is gone!! Anyways~to the OP, the above breeder might be someone to check out!! I like the fact that she shows, she does a spay/neuter contract, she doesn't let her puppies go until at least 12 weeks and you must return them to her if you can't care for them or need to get rid of them for any reason...and she doesn't breed more than a few litters a year. All of it sounds good. She doesn't say much about a health contract on the website though...something to ask about!! Don't be in too big of a rush... A good puppy is worth the wait and a good breeder is worth waiting for, if you are going to buy a puppy!! And to all the new yorkie owners...congratulations on your new additions!! Yorkies are totally addictive. Once you get one, life won't ever be the same!! LOL!! Last edited by theporkieyorkie; 11-14-2013 at 07:56 PM. |
