Good for you!!

You will be so glad you did and will not have to second guess yourself after you make your decision. There is so much good advise on this site and I can tell you without a doubt that everyone here loves Yorkies. Some have made poor decisions only because they were not educated and I do not want to see that happen to you! You will love it here before and after you get your pup!! This site is full of great information!

Welcome to YT and congrats on your new puppy.

The best advice I can give you is to start right away with the house breaking. I knew I was going to train Tink to go outside so I took her out about every 1-2 hours and praise, praise, when they go. I kept her tethered to me when I was not giving her my 100% attention. I used a crate for about 2 weeks at night and then I just started letting her sleep in bed with me at night. It was a lot of work, but she did not have very many accidents because I never let her wander away from me.

Yorkies are special and you are going to enjoy yours so much. Tink is the best dog I have ever owned and I love her dearly!

I am new to YorkieTalk, too, but have two Yorkies--boy and girl. I am just getting to know my baby girl, but my boy just turned a year old and he is such a fantastic companion. He is so loving and attentive, eager to understand, and happy to share his bouyant disposition. With the disclaimer that belly bands can be a must-have item, having a boy Yorkie is a joy. Good luck!

Welcome to YT! I am new on here as well but I have little girl, she is 5 months old now. I would recommend getting a playpen to keep him in when you are not home. And start house breaking the minute you get him. I got my little girl when she was 12 weeks old and it hasn't been easy since it is already getting cold here and she doesn't like it much. I am still getting up in the night with her so be prepared for that. She is now weighing in at 2 lbs 3 oz. Good luck with your new little one.
