| Best Place to register microchip? I'm a little confused, I was looking up Joels microchip number on the home again site and it was saying it wasn't there so I'm trying to register it. Does it have to be the HomeAgain company on his tag or could it be any company? I also don't like that is has to be renewed later, is there a place that's permanent? Where is your chip registered? |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Good question, bumping for you. I'm not sure about a permanent place to list it...

| my magic has home again chip which he got at 6 months and I registered for and I never have to register again. I can go to their site and update any info that I need to. At the time it was only 12.00 to register for ever. |

| HomeAgain doesn't have to be renewed every year. You just pay once & do not have to pay yearly unless you want the xtra services they offer. To find out what kind of chip Joel has, you can ask your vet to scan him. If he has a universal scanner, it will tell which chip Joel has & also read the #. If he only has a HomeAgain scanner & Joel doesn't have a HA chip, I think it will still register that he has a chip, but it cannot be read. I'm not 100% sure on this. My 2 have HomeAgain & the other 2 has Avid.

| Thanks, I only saw the part for the annual fee on the HomeAgain site but I called and they also said it's for extra services. So I did register him there. This whole time I thought he was registered Glad it's taken care of though |

| I have Home Again for Tibbe and did renew the first year or so to get the insurance for lost pet injury/illness or whatever specifics it covers plus the program extra's but didn't re-up after that. It is not necessary to buy into the program extra's in order to have your dog's scan contact info help him find his way home again. HA will still readily give your contact info to any reputable vet's office or rescue, etc., that calls them with the ID# and I suppose convinces them that they have the dog in hand. Likely you will have filed a lost dog report with them by that time and you can then be contacted by the party who has your dog. Your initial purchase of the chip/insertion/registration bought you a lifetime of HA keeping and sharing your contact info with legitimate persons who have found your lost dog or contacting you themselves, however that part of it works. The full program with insurance and extras is all that you have to purchase yearly if you want them but that is not necessary unless you want those extra's. If you don't stay on the "program" by yearly purchasing it, the chip will still re-unite you with your dog if he's lost, found, scanned and your contact info updated and correct. Just frequently check the site to be sure your contact info and pertinent particulars about your dog are still loaded properly at the site. The HA program has lost part of my contact info and had Tibbe's breed, etc., incorrect after Super Storm Sandy and I had to correct and update it so check the site frequently.
