| New Yorkie Mom **** WARNING**** *This is Long* First I would like to say thank you for this board lol. I have just recently became a yorkie mom. I have wanted one forever just never had a chance to get one. Within the past 36 hours I have become the mom to 3 of them. ( Yikes right lol). I have searched for over a year for a yorkie. I have read up on them and done my research. I could never find the extra 600 or so to purchase one for a reputable breeder, having 4 kids and all. I came across a lady who was selling 2 yorkies for 100 bucks (great deal I thought). Well when I get to her house she is a back yard breeder. She has several different breeds of dogs and has them in little bitty pens probably about 4 foot by 4 foot and about 3 foot tall. All outside and they each have about 4 or 5 dogs in them each. Very sad to me. I know the issues I am facing with these guys but I could not leave them. She brought the first female out and she pretty much lunged in my arms licking me (her name is mimi) she is almost 1 year old. Well they went to get the male out and another broke out of the same kennel he was in (A completly silver one). The male is Jackson and the silver one is Tilly. She handed me the male and stood there holding Tilly talking to me. She told me that she had bred the male to Tilly and had pups from her in June and that mimi had never come into heat. I was heartbroken by what I was hearing and seeing. I handed her the money and commented how pretty Tilly was. Her husband quickly said ou can have her for 25 more. My mother in law told them we didn't have 25 more so they said ok well you can have her for free if you will take her. So we agreed and brought all three home. ( all are sleeping on my bed as I type). I had never seen a completly silver yorkie before and wanted to do research (brought me here) as far as I can tell it is an illness. I have yet to find any pictures of a full grown one. She has shorter hair than a yorkie but looks just like one with a short haircut she is gorgeous. Well on the way home in the back of my car Jackson tied with mimi (Uggggggggggggg). They all have appointments to be fixed this week. NO MORE babies for any of them. They will be happy healthy PETS. My reason for coming here is to ask you guys if you have ever seen a completly silver/blue yorkie? And if I can figre out how to post pics maybe you guys can tell me if she is in fact a purebreed? Not that it matters just would like to know. My vet has never seen one before. Maybe she is mixed with something? I don't know her features look to me like she is full yorkie. |

| Hi Tillygirl, welcome to YT & the wonderful world of yorkies! You will learn a lot here. I have no experience with "blue" yorkies, but it sounds possible that you might have one. I'm sure others here can tell you more of what to look for. My advice to you is to get good pet insurance RIGHT AWAY. Once your vet diagnoses a condition it's considered "pre existing" and is NOT covered. I know you said $$ is tight, but the pet insurance can save you thousands if one or more of your pups gets sick. I use and love PetPlan insurance, but there are other good ones out there.

| Welcome to YT! I'm glad you saved 3 of them from those people. Just breaks my heart knowing there are people out there like that... I guess there's no law against backyard breeders? You can check out the "how to" section for posting pictures/videos, etc.. Also, check out the picture section on the forum. You can see a lot of different looking yorkies! |

| Welcome to YT. Oh boy, 3 at one time huh? Well if money is tight, definitely get pet insurance. Its a monthly bill, but way better than if anything happens and you need to come up with $3,000-$5,000 for a necessary life-saving operation, when you least expect it. That makes me so sad to hear where your pups came from and how they just 'gave away' that little girl. I hope you have enough love in your heart for all 3 of them! Sounds like they need it and have some making up to do in a warm, sweet, safe, loving home! Good Luck to you!!!

| Thank you Thank all of you for the warm welcome. I will look into pet insurance today. I have a whole lot to do with these guys this week lol. Vet appointments and all that. They seem so happy to be here and inside the cool house they are in heaven. I am trying to decide on the best food for them right now to. I have my chihuahua on Taste of the wild. Is this a good food for them? They are big for yorkies and mimi's ears do not stand up the flip down lol but she is a cutie. They were infested with fleas and I am sure they have worms. But that will be taken car of. I gave them a flea bath and am getting them on comfortis today. I will take some pics and get them on here. |

| You are on the good side of crazy, I'm glad you took them all. You sound like you have pretty much got it all in hand. Taste of the wild was involved in a recall this year, you may want to look into that. If you chose to feed kibble just find a corn and grain free one. Before going completely raw I fed Teegy Orijen, the company also makes Acana. They are Canadian so I'm not sure if you can get them. Go, Now and Blue Buffalo are others I've seen good things about. There is a natural way of getting rid of worms and keeping beasties at bay. Diatomaceous earth. A teaspoon mixed into their food once a day for a couple of weeks kills internal parasites, you may want to wet their food to do that and it can be used on the outside on the skin to dry out those beastly fleas. You can also sprinkle it on your floors and furniture if you think the buggers are in your house. You get a gold star from me for taking care of these wee doggies, thanks for being an excellent person |

| Can't wait to see photos! The all silver one (Tilly) could be a blue born, or perhaps she is a mixed breed. Is her nose blue or black? We might be able to tell more when we see photos. If Tilly is a blue born and is healthy looking after already having a litter of puppies, I'm sure she will continue to be healthy and live to a ripe old age. |

| Thank you so much that means a lot to me. They got a clean bill of health today from the vet. Tilly and Jackson are set to be fixed Thursday. Mimi on the other hand the vet said was in heat now so he can't do it. Which kind of scares me since Jackson has been after her since I got her and I do believe he has gotten to her before I even picked them up. (ugggggggggg) a lot more than I bargained for. |
