Facebook Shutting Down Pet Accounts

I have a facebook page for Holly .... but I think its a fan page and not a "profile" so it shouldn't get delete as far as I can tell .... but I could be wrong ...

It really IS stupid. I understand that they don't want bogus accounts (and I am sure there are a TON of them) but to target people who have their pets on there??? Those people are the ones that could make money for facebook (after all a human is running that page)...I guess it is all about FB not being as lucrative as they had all hoped so now they make it look like it is because of pet pages? These investors should have thought this out prior to investing. If they keep this up, FB could go down just like other social sites have in the past. Nothing lasts forever.

Then when I want to look up a fan page, I have to go into the search bar, it does not show up like friends do. Perhaps I don't have it set up correctly but a lot of this is a mystery to me

When I logged into my account which was under Max's name with my last name, I could not access anything. A message popped up that said I was using my account to promote a business. I did not use my account to promote my business other than occasionally "liking" posts from my business page -- something that big business owners do.

All of my pictures, posts, likes, and friends were gone. No access or chance to download them. Also lost private messages from people sending support and well wishes for Teddy, who has been sick this past week.

To see all updates from pages you like, go to the page and hover over the Like button. Unless things have changed, a dropdown should appear that gives you choices to show in your newsfeed. One of them is "add to interests list."

Also, the more you "like" or comment on posts from a particular page, the more likely it is that all of the updates will appear in your newsfeed.

With both Facebook and Google going to pay-to-play models, small business is losing out to the giants who have the budget to pay to be seen. I support free-market capitalism, but I have to laugh at how these two entities have turned their backs on their founding philosophies.

If the regular page is converted to a "pet" page, you cannot post comments or like anything. It is very limited. I am going to convert Max's page to a "personal blog" or one of the other options that allows more activity.

I chose to post under his name because I'm not interested in communicating with people I went to grade school with or distant relatives. The only reason I wanted his account was to see pics of doggies and to communicate with people who are not active here on YT. My Max page was personal and had nothing to do with my business.

Pretty much me too. I do post on mine on occasion. The only reason why I even I have one is bc I had to to make a business page. I also don't like to keep in contact w relatives etc, good thing no one from grade school has really tried to contact me. Well except for that one a s s hat I wish would just go away!

I am really getting sick of all the crap that FB is giving us but i am going to stay with it for a while . I had an account in Angus name last year but i got so much grief about it and just deleted my account..
Later I created another account in my name with a new email .. When I created a " Like " page for my dogs I use the Category " Just For Fun " .. So far no problems..

Things don't ever last forever and there is always someone waiting to step into your shoes in life...as in a job where a person thinks they are irreplaceable. I think it is only a matter of time before something takes the place of FB. The stuff they do will lead to someone looking for a replacement. Seems they have started annoying people more since they went public...could be that will be their undoing. I don't know...I could be wrong, but the trend has always been that things on the internet change....

Sure! The reason they want us to use our legal names and add as much info as possible to our profile is that FB is selling/sharing this info. Same with Google. I don't personally mind the govt or Coca Cola knowing things about me, but I would like to keep my online activity -- bland and unexciting as it is -- private from my 3rd cousin or the person who sat next to me in homeroom freshman year.

Galen's page is still there. But his is a like page. I put people in categories. Like people from school. So they do not see everything I do. Hey I had an ever colorful and interesting life. And though I am not embarrassed by it it is non of their business. And also some of my busy body family. I post more on Galen's page then o do my own lol

well FB shut down Waffles personal acct. So now she has a fan page (just made it) Feel free to follow her Ill follow all of yours back. Post them here in this thread. Ive followed the two that are in this thread already. Naughty FB!
