| ![]() Gina is in a kitten harness right now, but she has almost outgrown it in length. I always kept a harness on Megan, and will with Gina, she is also going to get micro chipped when she gets spayed. I like her wearing it, she is always on a lead when we go for a walk, even just for bathroom breaks, and it's easier to grab her harness when she is bonkers, gives me something to hold on to while she is squirming. Cheers Quad ![]()

| ![]() I don't use a collar on any of my dogs. Last year while the dogs were playing, somehow my shorkie's teeth got caught on our yorkie's collar and we couldn't get him loose. He was wearing a safety collar and it didn't release. Well we almost lost Zach. When we finally cut him loose we put him on the table and he didn't move. We thought his neck was broken. Well I picked him up and he started to come around. We rushed him to the emergency hospital and Thank God there was no permanent damage. After that we took all the collars of our dogs and when they go out they only wear harnesses. They wear nothing in the house. If we had not been at home Zach would be dead. |

| ![]() My dog wears a collar all the time. And while most will disagree with it, I use the collar too. She's well leash trained and does not pull. I use a harness too but not as often as I used to. I have a bit of a collar addiction. lol My oldest dog has the most collars but Bayleigh is catching up. Especially now that I have some money to spend.

| ![]() just came across this thread, chances are if your dog is only inside, never goes outside without a leash, no one else comes in and out of the house except for you (the OP) you will not need a collar. But there are so many what if's that could happen so is it really worth taking a chance. Get a very small collar and a tag with your pups name and your phone number. I will tell you first hand that having a dog chipped does not always help in getting your dog back if it goes missing. My sister's yorkie got away by accident when my parents were watching her. She was chipped and the info in the computer had both my parents phone number and my sister's. However the people that found her never even thought about taking her somewhere to be checked for a chip, they just read the collar and called my sisters house, and since she was out of the country she did not pick up messages. They started to think she did not care and were preparing to keep her yorkie. There are tons of people that when finding a cute little dog like yours would just say, Oh well no ID, I guess no one cares about the pup and keep it. I know that sounds weird to us that are so tuned into to micro chips but there are a ton of people out there that still don't know about them or even know where to take a dog to be checked for one.

| ![]() Rosie is under 3 lbs and wears a collar at all times. It's a very thin kitty breakaway collar. It will come apart if you pull on it slightly which eliminates the danger of her being strangled with it. It has her tags on it and also came with a little bell. The bell is great bc it helps me keep an eye on where she's at in the house. Luma wears a thin nylon collar with her tags on it. A little more sturdy than a breakaway, for my 8 lb ball of energy.

| ![]() Honestly, I will put a collar on my pup, for ID/fashion purpose. Most importantly its for ID.... I would never have a collar for walking. I plan to teach off-lead, As this is what I have trained all my dogs.

| ![]() I always have a collar on my babies with their id, but I don't hook a leash to it. That's what the harnesses are for. The only one that doesn't wear a collar is my daughters Chihuahua, because as soon as you put one on him he tries to chew it off and ends up getting his lower jaw stuck in it, so needless to say he don't wear one. She cant even put little shirts on him because he will chew them up. Bandit, my yorkie and Kiva the Diva, my daughters s**t-zu both have collars on at all times, you never know when they will run out the door or take off, and I never take them out off leash, especially Bandit because he will take after any critter he sees and we have all kinds of them around here, even guineas |

| ![]() Bella wears a nylon collar with her name and my phone number embroidered on it for ID purposes. She has never had any problems with her collar, and it's quite pretty. | ![]() I have always used a collar with Tink. She has a microchip, but I like the fact that if she did get out my number is right there on her tag. |

| ![]() Its just sad to think. Although most may have ID. Even with that. Returning them are rare....

| ![]() Your pup may be an inside dog that never goes out except on a leash, but one day you may want to take her somewhere where anything might happen. Have one with ID tags so that when you are away from home with her she can wear it as a precaution. My dogs wear theirs all of the time, and they only come off for grooming. They get so excited when I tell them "let's put on your necklace." They come running and sit at my feet wanting it back on! They don't like being without it.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | ![]() Fashion is the least of it for me. I've read too many stories on here about furbutts that have darted out doors, somebody left thee gate open, & other means of escape whether dog is trained/untrained... in town or country. The ones who get returned home the quickest to the owners are the ones with dog tags & phone numbers regardless of what daily rituals are of out only on leash or whatever. Sometimes these independent little stink pots cannot be trusted trained or not. I know Roxy will stay with me outside.... as long as there is not a squirrel, or other little critter. Then all bets are off. Roxy is never without her collar & tags except for her bath. Replaced soon after. Yes there is the risk of it getting caught on something. Life is full of risk. She is so friendly i think the risk of never seeing her again is very likely if people do not know where her home is. That's a risk I absolutely 'cannot' take.
