Aww... that is so AWESOME that you are keeping sweet LOLA!!!! Hang in there you will find them wonderful homes!! |
Dad rescued & placed one dog, can't imagine puppies Lola's rescue reminded me of an incident when I was a child, around 1958. There suddenly was a little black & white dog with a feathery tail & soft hair that showed up in our neighborhood one day. Friendly little dog, but she was limping along on 3 legs with one rear leg wrapped in dirty strips of bandage. I brought "doggie' home and Dad began to work on her leg. Once he'd fed and talked to the dog, she began to trust him. Took quite a while to get adhesive trimmed away from her feathery leg hair! Once it was all unwrapped, we saw a sore area, and then heard a 'clink' sound. A round B.B. gun pellet fell out of a hole in her leg! Dad was furious that someone had shot this gentle little dog! He worked on her leg for several days, ond got it looking good...he loved animals. No one knew where she came from at all..probably dumped from a car? A family nearby finally did adopt "Fluffy" for their little girls, and she seemed very happy. SO, I have high hopes for your puppies. People seem to want to adopt pups more so than grown dogs. I'm not sure what agencies are near you that could help out. Best wishes and much praise for all your efforts on Lola & her pups behalf!! LOL |
Joyce, I just wanted to stop by and see how things were going with you and the pups. Wow! I can't believe it's been a month already, everyone looks great! You're doing an awesome job taking care of these babies! I'm so happy to see you're keeping sweet Lola. ;) |
What an angel you are for taking this on!! I know that it would be sooo hard for me to stand by and watch this poor pregnant dog go through this, and even harder to watch lack of interaction of the 'so called' humans that walked around their yard and ignored her. Deplorable I say to those people and KUDOS to you for acting with your heart. All the very best. Cheers! |
Well 2 out of 3 people have backed out on adopting the pups. Just not meant to be I guess and I feel that it's for the best! I want them to go to someone that will love them like I do!!! They are so cute, playful and funny. They all have a zest for life. You can see the happiness on their little faces. Pupsquad has not gotten back with me and I sent them an e-mail on Oct. 1st. Time to get serious. :( |
Do you have anything set up for donations and such to help with the cost? |
Perhaps you have already tried this idea, but you might see if any of the local stores, libraries, or recreation centers at a Park-- where people go to walk their dogs!--might allow you to post the puppies' pictures & a little bit about their 'rescue story' and personalities. Of course, you never know who might call, and you would have to ask questions as well, so you'd have to decide if you want to do this kind of a "poster notice" and deal with people you don't know. You could type-up a "Puppy Photo & Info. List" which would show interested, prospective owners 'photos' and an actual list of all the check-ups, shots, & medicines you have already given to the puppies--with the name of the vet hospital or the clinic where the pups were seen. This should be a 'plus' in your puppies favor over other puppies that haven't had any extra care given...like those sad newspaper ads that just say "free puppies"..."free kittens". Our local Wal-Mart store now actually allows a bimonthly "posting" on two homemade posterboards of photos of dogs and cats at our local SPCA who need homes. Each one's photo has a "name" and a little description about the animal's personality and its strong points for adoption. The photos are updated; I always hope some of these pets did find a new home when their photo is taken off. I actually see people looking at the posters, so perhaps the 'photo-stories' help! Anyway, I was at the store today, and I happened to think about what the SPCA was doing when I looked at your last posting that said 2 prospective 'owners' had now changed their minds...and you were getting very worried. You may not even like this idea at all, but I was just trying to think of something you might try to do to get the puppies story out to more people. Blessings to you & your whole family! -- Sue & Taffy |

Yay for your Sister! I am so glad the puppies' story is getting out to more people and that you are getting more responses! Posters at the park are good - ( we have so many dog walkers and families at our city park and I\'ve seen \'lost dog posters\' on the telephone poles there and they have ads on posters in the recreation halls there, too for puppies or kittens once in a while, too. The small neighborhood stores may allow a poster or story with your contact information. The \'After School Programs\' at schools or Parks where you could get permission to tell Lola\'s Story with the puppies right there, like you did at your sister\'s job site, to speak to students who could take a letter home to parents who may let them adopt a pet. Maybe some or all of the money you spent could be put on a Donation of some type on your 2013 Taxes...if you kept any receipts or could get a \'letter from the clinic\' that says you were helping an "abandoned" or an "abused animal" when you took them there for check-ups? They may be happy to provide a paragraph and a simple list of charges you paid to aid the abused or neglected Lola and her puppies. If you know anyone who understands taxes and may know if there are "aide or rescue $ donation sections" on tax forms...I have no idea, but there seem to be so many types of donation write-offs that you hear about--?
