| This has been happening in our area...they caught a woman just in the last couple of weeks. She was stealing pets and them putting them on a garage sale FB page. She was caught when the owner of a husky and her pup saw her babies for sale and got the authorities involved. Scary!!

| I've always suspected this to happen all over the world, not just now. Did you guys see the first comment about the article? That woman is saying to not adopt from shelters and instead buy from pet shops!

| Nothing new. I agree with Priscilla- I think this has always taken place. It is so sad that we have to worry our pets will be stolen and sold, or kept as their own. I still can’t understand why someone would want to keep someone’s pet that doesn’t belong to them. It just makes me sick. My G-pa’s Silky Terrier was stolen from them. My Mom hunted the neighborhood and was able to find out where she was, she contacted the lady and said we would give her money if she just returned Mitzy. Well she denied having her, then she said she had her but she was in bad shape so she took her to the Vet and a lady took her in.. it was just lie after lie… We didn’t get her back and my G-pa’s heart and soul was broken over it. She was his baby, they were just as close as Peanut and I. Well he ended up having a heart attack. I blame that lady- she might not know what happened to my G-PA but she will have to live with that!

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I use to be one of those who thought good dogs came from pet stores, I had no idea. I knew they didn't come from backyard breeders.

| I see a lot of ads for missing Yorkies on Craigslist all the time. I assume that a lot of them have been taken from backyards. |

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | This happens here in my town more than I care to think. My sister runs a FB page for lost, and for re homing pets and a few month ago she was asked to help get back a dog that a young women who was only 17 yr old took and tried to flip. She took the dog for free from this person looking for a loving new family for her dog and minuets later posted that same dog for sale on another FB page. My sister and the original owner found where this person lived when my sister called posing as a potential buyer for the dog and went an took the dog back. It was found out later that it was not her first time doing it.

You know, not only private parties to this. Pet shops do too! The Puppy Store - Santa Ana, CA This place is called the Puppy Store, and it has the same logo and design layout of a shop in LA called Orange Bone that places rescue dogs. So I walked in wondering how could a rescue afford a spot in the mall? Well when I walked in I saw puppies! Non AKC mixed breed puppies from out of state! And then there were a few "rescues" in the back, for about $300-500! I'm sure they pick out the "cute" ones from the shelter for $70 and flip them and sell them in their shop for hundreds!

| Yeah, and you now what really pissed me off was the first time I wrote a review for that shop, it was taken down by Yelp for not following their terms and guidelines. They said it was more of a rant, and not a review. Well guess what? I just put another one up. That place has a lot of ignorant people rating it five stars.

"When I was there in December looking for my pup, they had at least 3 rescues in there. One of which had been found wandering the main place mall parking lot the day before." She thought that was a good idea.

| Yes I did see that. I also saw another that said don't buy dogs for them, but if you like to dress up your dog, it's fine to buy clothes from there.
