No Longer a Member | Giz bit off more than he could chew this time.. Sitting on the porch this morning minding his own business as he does every morning, down the middle of the street come 2 huge Boxers.. Gizmo thinks the stretch of street right in front of our house is his so he proceeded to run to the edge of the yard and let it be known. Before I could get out of the swing they were on his butt and he barely made it to the porch. Poor baby couldn't even make it to the steps, was hanging on the side by his front feet trying to get to me. Anywho, he ended up breaking off one of his toe nails even with the skin..ouch! He is already on antibiotics for his tummy and vet said to bring him in in the morning and he would fix him up. Won't stop licking his little foot. I learned the hard way he's not safe in his own yard..and Giz learned he's not as "scawy" as he thinks. |

| Oh my goodness! Poor puppy! You are right - he isn't safe even in his own yard. It doesn't seem fair, but you're probably going to have to keep him on a leash to protect him from other dogs. |

YT 5000 Club Member | I bet he was scared to death! We were walking at the track one night and a lady had her shih zu there and it attacked Gidget and it took her a long time to even get around any dogs! But she is ok now!!!

| Denise, You are very lucky nothing happened to your little dude. These little ones have such an attitude (one of the reasons I love them) and they will go after anything in their territory or the whole world for that matter. Many a little Yorkie was killed because of this and all it takes is for a big dog to pick it up by its neck and shake it. My little Bella 3#'s thinks nothing of going after any big dog and running up to them and bitting them on the nose. Thank goodness she is only doing this to Sammy (a lover) who is a 14# Yorkie (?) but Moose at 4#'s is the same way. He goes insane when the big dogs walk in front of my house and I know if I let him out he would be dead. I am always amazed at their courage or stupidity when they do this. Just be a good mom and protect him from himself.

No Longer a Member | [QUOTE=yorkieusa]Poor Giz! How many lives has he gone through so far? [/QUOTE I know girl, he's a tough one and been thru a lot. I am really very protective of my guy and I know I should have known better. Right now he is laying by me with his little chin on my pillow. Won't let me hold him, he actually growls at me. Gonna try to stay away from that big paw and not touch it til the morning when he goes to the vet. I feel bad for him and mad at myself. It was only the day before that he got to go have his tummy problems addressed and I'm sure he felt totally violated and didn't care for the thermometer at all. Now he's going right back to the torture chamber. Gonna have to work on my Mommy of the Year skills. |
