| Traveling with pups... Any advice? We are traveling with our pups for our first major trip (12 hour car ride). They will be wearing their harnesses and strapped in (though haven't completely decided on a certain product for that yet - so let me know if you know of a great one or one to stay away from) somehow. We also have a carrier (though they much prefer to be held . Looking for some thoughtful suggestions or tips I may be overlooking or hadn't thought of. Thanks in advance

| Take pee pads! You can put them on the floor in the backseat. It keeps them off hot pavement, away from broken glass and away from areas frequented by other animals. Don't forget bottles of water, baby or pet wipes, leashes. Have a great trip! |

YT 2000 Club Member | I always bring a water dish, water from home, favorite toys, blanket, Nutri-Cal, clothes for chilly times, puppy pads, food, Pepto Bismal & syringe & chew toys. I pack a bag, just for them as this keeps it altogether and I don't have to hunt for things in a suitcase. We also have a puppy playpen that folds for easy traveling.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I have the Snoozer-Lookout II Dog Car Seat . I love it. It also has a nice size drawer on the bottom to put all their stuff in. Also bring baby wipes and a few rolls of paper towels

| An xpen is really handy. If you are staying overnight in a hotel, pen the pups and search the floor carefully, including under the bed, for anything that may have been missed by the cleaning staff. Sometimes medications are dropped, earrings, or other dangerous items. Check for electrical cords and all of the things that are normally dog proofed at home.

| Thanks everyone. Verbena, I have been looking at the snoozer seat, so your seal of approval is appreciated . The boys are pee pad trained, so will definitely have those, and we have an exercise pen that will be traveling with us. We are staying over in a hotel, so Maximo, good idea about checking the floors. We've heard good things about Drury Hotels (fingers crossed). I hadn't even thought about baby wipes though . Good ideas! We appreciate it

Usually pet friendly hotels require you to leave a mobile phone number with the front desk if you have pets with you.

| Children's benedryl helps calm them too. I give it when they fly to my moms with me. In the car I find them calmer when they are crated actually. Try a tad bit of Lavendar essential oil rubbed onto the paws, it's an all natural solution for anxiety.

| All the hotels we have stayed at do not let you leave pups unattended. But we use the play pen when traveling. Our dogs travel in their crate they are more comfortable, they would prefer to be held but I won't do it for safety reasons. They know when they get in the crate it is travel time and sleep majority of the 5 hour trip. They are seasoned travelers. Make sure you stop every few hours for a potty break. |
