YT 2000 Club Member | Thats what we have done. We have fenced in a smaller section inside our acre yard that is fenced. Whoever cut the fence had to breach the property to get to this smaller fenced area.

You can expand the system up to 7 detector units....since I have a large yard (live on a cul-de-sac) that is pie shaped, I have several large areas that are not visable at all from the patio area.....and I always go with more is better, so I got TWO systems and I have beams criss crossing all over my back yard and across the front yard/driveway as well. Each beam is associated with its own "beep" alarm in the house, and the dogs know the beep that is sounded when someone is coming up the front walk to the door, and the one that goes off when anything/anyone comes up the driveway. I am sure there are much better, more expensive systems on the market, but this one fits what I needed , perfectly. The little beam boxes are small enough to be descreet....you can not see the beam, it is invisable.....I have mine at a height of around 30 inches from the ground.....too high for my dogs to trip, low enough on the ground no person can bend over and creep onto the property and the beam passes over them....I am very happy with my little system and it works very well, and I didnt have to float a loan to get it!....I have had it since 2004. Waterproof, change the batteries occasionally, and keep going! Last edited by Yorkiemom1; 06-23-2013 at 12:29 PM. | |

YT 2000 Club Member | Thank you so much for this additional information. That sounds like a system we might be interested in along with our camera security system. Our children refer to our home as "little Fort Knox" bc of all the security stuff and then someone still tries to steal our babies. Ugh!

| You sure are doing what you can to protect your babies. The thing is if that guy is crazy enough to want to harm your dogs he could easily throw something into your yard. I walk around my yard before I let Gracie play there. Not because of neighbors but we have cats that sometimes leave dead bodies around. I have to make sure Gracie doesn't get near one of those. Your neighbor has no right to complain about occasional barking. Most areas only have ordinances for after 10:00 at night concerning noise. The world is getting to be such a strange place! |

| He sounds schizophrenic. Make a report on him to adult protective services, and see if they will come check him out.

Sad because he was the nicest guy in the world when on his meds, but when he got off them it was scary. And it always hits in ones twenties

| I am sorry that you are going through this with neighbors. I would not allow my dogs outside without someone out there with them, bc a police office once told me that a threat can become reality. If someone can threat than it is a thought, and a thought can be carried out Keep those babies safe..

| I also had a friend get attacked by a schizophrenic homeless man on the red line train through Hollywood. Got hit right in the forehead with a metal pipe and only lived because he caught it out the corner of his eye right before it happened and was able to get his hand up to block a little of the impact. Schizophrenics are extremely dangerous people to be around. The homeless man was going off in a rant about how my friend was a racist (I wasn't there; it's what he told me). Luckily the rest of the people on the train crowded around and got the weapon out of this guy's hand quickly.

| Please look at my handle name carefully to see that I know about what I'm telling you. Reasoning will not work with this person. Document all of this and remind the officers about their ability to intervene when a person demonstrates threat of "harm to self or others". Use this phrase with them!!! |

YT 2000 Club Member | The police just left, they are going over there to talk to him now. The last thing we heard him screaming was that he is going to kill us if we go on his property again. We have never been on his property. I believe this young man might be very dangerous. Scared in my own house.

| Stay on top of this, stay very alert, and report every abnormal thing he does....if they determine he presents a clear and present danger to himself or others, he will hopefully be admitted for pschiatric evaluation.....but this character is very dangerous and he seems to be escalating, which will happen the longer he is off medication. While your pups are definately in danger, so are you and your family. I would NOT live in terror, and I would not let anyone that is clearly unstable and dangerous, be allowed to put me and my family in a death grip. I would be prepared to defend my family with deadly force if necessary. I would much rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6. Good luck with this, and do not let your guard down for one second. |
