well when I tried to show I wasn't upset and ease the tension through smilies I was told I was being sarcastic but I think smilies actually help a lot with the tone of a message. I also think that has a lot to do with my generation and our addiction to texting and our phones so guilty of being attached to my phone lol

Bad Breeders marketing ploy for a "teacup" aside.. There are categories of teacup within breeds, like a teacup poodle and a standard poodle. There is not that category in a Yorkie. We had poodles when I was growing up. Actually the poodle has three types

Standard: over 15 inches tall at the shoulder
Miniature: over 10 but under 15 inches
Toy: 10 inches or under

There is no teacup. It is a marketing ploy just like the yorkies

No the Akc used to have that on their site and it was an error and they changed it. It wasnt the standard anyway it was the prefered weight to show . It is the YTCA not the Akc that sets the standard and its always been 7 lbs and under

Sorry I know this is an older post but it was quoted and a lot stuck out in it...there you have it from an actual breeder...I wasn't trying to offend anyone who has bigger yorkies but smaller yorkies are more wanted. I'm one of those guilty of wanting a smaller yorkie BEFORE you all educated me. I can imagine how annoying it is as a breeder to get so many calls about such a "negative" thing but the fact that teacups don't exist and are actually defined as sick puppies, sadly, isn't common knowledge.

I agree. I personally think that smileys can help with the tone of a message, but after a rough patch, I realized that they can be misunderstood, so I avoid using them as much as possible unless it's really obvious that what I'm saying is in jest.

yes understandable but this thread was never intended to get this far and upset people that badly! It really wasn't that serious and I feel like everything was just blown out of proportion and for what? sheesh.

I don't think it upset people badly. It might have upset some but I don't think was badly. Even if it did I am sure everyone will get over it.

I don't think that was any ones intention at all some people got annoyed and some people got hurt but it can happen in any thread. Just like some people hurt your feelings you hurt other peoples feelings too. It happens when there are threads on very heated topics. It doesn't mean any one hates any one though.
