| ![]() I think "no potty" and "go potty" sound too alike and would be confusing. When they are really little it takes a lot of careful watching for sure. Confining to the pen is good. When she cries don't take her out or she will learn to cry more. |

| ![]() You took my thoughts right out of my brain. That was my exact train of thought when she barked for an hour straight. I feel much better now.

| ![]() It is late and didn't read whole thread so excuse if this is a repeat lol, try blotting a little of her pee on the pad. That is how I trained mine. Also clean any area she has peed with enzymes.

| ![]() For the enzyme cleaner, I suggest Nature's Miracle. It comes in a spray bottle and you can buy it at Petco or a store like that. Is she sleeping better at night for you? If not, I can tell you what finally worked for us. I had a nearly identical set up for my Toby. The same pen with a nice soft bed, etc. Well he cried all night, every night and it was so sad and loud! I got rid of the nice soft bed and put in the smallest crate you can buy. Inside the crate I put a fleece blanket. During the day we leave the door to the crate open and at night we close the crate. (The crate is inside his pen.) He *loves* it. It is cozy and snug and makes him happy. He sleeps all night long without crying. I think the soft bed just felt too big and empty to him at night. Also, I have the floor of the pen lined with washable pads (they're actually adult bed pads). He rarely goes in the pen though as he is outside trained now. Still, he has a clear area to go pee-pee in if he needs to and it is well away from his crate and his food. He will *not* go potty near his crate or his food.

| ![]() So glad she pottied on her pad! I hope there was one big celebration for her when she was done. One more thing... Be sure to NEVER scold her for making a mistake. She will think that potting is wrong and begin to hide her potty from you. She's small so strange places, like under your bed, may seem like a perfect hiding place for her. Simply tell her your correction phrase, then place her gently on her pad and give her your potty command. She may not go right away after her potty was interrupted, but eventually she will. Be patient and stay consistent, New Mommy! You're doing just fine. That little potty spot is almost as adorable as she is!

| ![]() I see this thread is already 5 pages. I admit I have not read all the answers. I can only tell you that puppies only start to develop the muscle that is able to hold back urine at around 16 weeks. Up until then you really need to keep her near the potty pad at all times. When she has gone on the pad reward her and then you should be able to let her have some free time. Limiting the area she is able to roam in at this age is really important. She is just a baby and can't manage potting in the right place is she is too far away. When a pup is to far from the pad it can't always get to the pad in time. So having constant accidents sets up a pattern of peeing where ever they happen to be. |
