| YT 500 Club Member | Courtney, I never really thought about it until my breeder said this when I got Sophie, "This puppy may have a hard time adjusting at first. It's kind of like a 2 or 3 year old being kidnapped from home." It's heartbreaking to think about it that way, but it did kind of make sense. Mine cried off and on all night long the first night. Each night she slept better and better. I also put a teddy bear in one of my t-shirts in her bed. That way she was with my scent and maybe didn't feel so lonely. As for pad training, I have pads in every room. The main one she uses though is in my bathroom. I put one on each side of my toilet. Every time I go, I take her with me and she goes. I also keep a few Cheerios outside the bathroom door for a reward. You're doing great and I reiterate what we all think, Miley is precious.

| Congrats!!! Your baby is precious! And once she has adjusted you will remember a time when she wasn't queen of the house. I worried about Minnie when I first got her cause she wouldn't walk anywhere really the first few days but then all of a sudden she would explore more and more. Where did you get the purse carrier? and her tag? they are soo cute! |

My Jaraden I got from here:Jaraden Le Petit Mon Ami Pet Carrier Beige Designer Small Dog Carriers I know Lil Sis sells them as well! Her collar I got from this etsy shop:Dog Collar Grey polka dots with Pink Shabby by graciespawprints Karen has TONS of collars and even does customized orders ![]() Her name tag came from petsmart They have a cool machine that laser engraves the pet tag right in front of you! It took less than 5 minutes.I saw you keep bows in Minnie's hair. I tried to put a rubber band in Mileys hair today and she was not having it. I put a bow with an alligator clip in first and she pulled it out. Any advice on how to get the rubber band in?

| Maybe try to move slow when she is on the floor. Think of how huge you look to such a tiny pup. That is why they back up and act afraid sometimes when you approach them from a standing position. She is used to little ones like herself. She will eventually realize she is in her new home but the first few days can be rough. She won't start to have any real bladder control until she is past 16 weeks so it's good to have a pee pad near by at all times at this point. She is so beautiful. It can be kind of stressful being the new mommy of such a little baby but it is a real bonding experience, too. It gives everyone puppy fever to see someone get a new baby. Congratulations. |

Should I just not encourage potty training until 16 weeks then? Well not necessarily not encourage it but not enforce it? She went pee on the pad once and I gave her a few multigrain Cheerios. Although I don't think she realized that she had went pee on the pad.

| I brought Lexi home with Potty pads and the spray that has the potty smell. I know the puppy pads have the scent, but I sprayed the first pad with the potty spray and immediately she went on the pad. We celebrated like we had hit the lottery. She got a treat, and the potty song I just made up on the spot. She LOVED the potty song! After a couple of times of that, she using the potty pad every few minutes, just for the celebration. I couldn't even talk on the phone, because I'd have to break into song constantly! It was soooo frustrating, but I knew it was good because, even though she often faked for a treat, she was going exclusively on the pads. If she ever goes anywhere but the potty pad be sure to clean it with the special potty cleaner so there's no scent left. The scent should only be on the pad. Also, what worked for me was to stay in one area of the house until she's going exclusively on the pad in that room. Letting her roam the whole house in the beginning, even though the pads are there, I think would be too overwhelming. I'm so excited for you!!!
