| yorkie mix being sold akc registered? I bought several colored yorkies from a breeder and they were mar's tested and to be found they have mix breed in them. The breeder says that back in the lines there were some breeders that mixed in mix breed in the lines to get color, but its not her fault, she is not the only breeder that is breeding un-pure dogs, apparently there are a lot of breeders breeding un-pure lines and they know the lines are bad and they are still doing it. They say as long as it looks like a yorkie breed it anyway, even with the mix breed in it, they are selling these dogs for a lot of money and they are mixed breeds. Akc is doing nothing about this. Does anymore care about this, I bought registered colored yorkies to breed, I can not breed these dogs and sell their puppies as pure breed registered yorkie, like what so many other breeders are doing with these colored yorkies. |

And yes there are bad breeders that will breed other than purebred, use registration numbers from their registered purebred dogs that actually are not the true sire and/or dam and register the litter than way. Unfortunately the Canadian Kennel Club or the American Kennel Club will not know, put through the registration and pups get registered. The only way to find out if the sire is the sire and dam is on the dam as per the paperwork, is to question the validity of the paperwork and the registration bodies can ask the breeder for DNA tests that take a cheek swab from sire, cheek swab from dam compared to cheek swab from progeny. It should be a match if the paperwork is right for sire and dam, however, the mutts may be further back in the pedigree. This is why if you are buying, know your breeder and it is false, there are not lots of breeders doing this except perhaps byb's might be. Most show breeders would not, reputable breeders definitely would not ever even dream of it.

| Chocolate Yorkies and blonde/gold yorkies, what is happening, is that breeder have bought these dogs that are not pure, They paid a lot of money for these dogs, they were rip off too but instead of not breeding these dogs and just take their losses they breed them anyway and sell their puppies to people that think they are buying a pure breed yorkie, they are not BYB they are full blown yorkie breeders with big kennels and websites and there dogs are Akc Registered. |

| I think Lorraine explained it really well. I don't know any breeders who mix yorkies and sell them as AKC yorkies, but I'm sure they're out there. I hope you get more good answers about this.

Sounds like to me perhaps your "breeder" got caught with her hands in the cookie jar, and she is trying to justify this unacceptable behavior by saying, "They all do it".....WRONG!!

| Registered colored yorkies??? There's blue and tan, blue and gold, black and gold and Black and Tan. Those are the only options for AKC coloring.

| I remember reading something about MAR's dna test, this thread was back in '09 & not sure if MARS tests have improved or changed or what since then. I don't understand more than half of what's posted, but maybe it can help. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/bre...-accuracy.html By 'colored' do you mean Biewers? oops Biewers can't be registered w/AKC...do you mean Parti?

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Those colors like also the parti Yorkies are a recessive gene. As per the Parti Yorkishire Terrier Club In June of 2000. The DNA studies of Nikko’s Kennel was completed to the satisfaction of AKC: AKC deciding that after a study of the Yorkshire History and the DNA of the dogs involved in the study they were satisfied that the color can be produced in otherwise normal litters of Yorkshire Terriers. That woman just wants to say it is rare and sell for more money. She is scamming the public with mutts and calling them AKC Yorkies. And she is not a reputable breeder. These dogs are not rare, just not standard. But we love them all the same.

| I don't think the breeder done this herself, I believe her, she bought these yorkies and they are not pure breed, she paid thousands of dollars for mutts, now she is breeding them anyway, to make money. Even though she got scam, she is just as bad as the breeders that brought the mix breed in the line to get the color, she is breeding these dogs anyway. one of the dogs I got of her a gold male did not even grow enough fur on his head to put a buckle in it, she admitted to me he was not a pure breed, and did after a long battle replaced him with a chocolate male yorkie, the chocolate guy's fur on his back never grew long, the breeder said his lines were pure and he just had a bad coat, I believe her, I actually thought he was a red leg yorkie, but then I did breed him and kept back a female and had her test came back mom is a full yorkie and dad one of his parents was a full mix breed and one of his parents a full yorkie. |

| My profile picture is the dog I had tested she is 6 months old, her dad is a AKC chocolate registered yorkie and mom is a AKC Registered Parti yorkie. Her test came back she is 25% mix breed, 75% yorkie, the mix breed is coming from her chocolate Registered AKC sire. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/cus...19260327_1.gif Last edited by yorkiemom71; 06-04-2013 at 05:42 AM. |
