| Uni and the fosters have their own dedicated bowls, but sometimes they get fed on our plates if theirs are dirty, missing, or broken. Heck, when we run out of small bowls, I use theirs! Quote:

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I'm with you all on this. Julie and Sabu have their own dog bowls of course. We've NEVER had an issue with them eating off our plates, bowls and silverware. That is what my dishwasher is for, sanitizing. *Chuckles* Probably a year or two after we adopted Sabu, DH was the one that told me that 40% of people share their desserts with their pets. He was the one that actually initiated the whole thing. I bathe Julie in my kitchen sink, I'm not going to break my back to wash her in the tub. Whereas with Sabu, he showers with me, me first then him. I with someone that stated if people get grossed out with the way I handle my dogs, then by all means bring your dinnerware. Like me Dad told me not that long ago, "It's my house." Just remember back in the day before most of us used dishwashers, we all fed Fido and Fluffy on our dinner plates and silverware using our spoons to scoop up their pet food with our spoons and place it in one of our bowls. | If people have a problem with eating off of dishes that my dogs have eaten off of and then everything goes in the dishwasher, they might want to put a bit of thought into the fact that they go to a restaurant and put forks and spoons in their mouths that MANY strangers have put in their mouthes and whos to say they actually made it to the dishwasher. I did see a lady once at the table next to us get new,in a package, plasticware out of her purse and eat with it at a VERY nice restaurant. |

| Before my ex fiancé ran off with our dog, Simon and I would share forks and spoons. He was very gentleman like when it came to eating. If I placed something on a plate he'd eat it on the plate not drag it somewhere, and when I'd give him a treat he'd always jump up on my chair and eat by the table. I guess some people have the "dogs lick their own butts and eat poo" mentality. |

Paris: Always in my ♥ Donating YT Member | My pets dishes get washed in the same water as mine (I handwash), but I do wash theirs last. And yes sometimes Paris would eat off my plate when I was done, but not in front of non family. |

| This thread just made me realize what I do when I brings the dogs to my mom's house to dogsit. I always have so many toys with me, plus their food that I don't even bother bringing their bowls. I march right into Mom's kitchen cubbard and grab cereal bowls for them to have water. They also eat their food out of human bowls too. I've never once thought I shouldn't do this and my parents have never said anything either!

YT 2000 Club Member | Your "friend" must not be a dog lover! Does she know that humans have more germs than dogs? Their saliva kills germs that are in their mouth, too! Mine do have their own dishes that are washed right after they eat. I do not have a dishwasher, so they get washed with my other dishes. I have had dogs all my life and have never caught the flu or a cold from one of my dogs, but have from family and friends!

| yeah.. Im not dirtying another plate for the dog. If there are extra veggies or mashed potatoes that is not enough for a leftover meal, the bowl/plate/pan goes on the floor for the dogs to enjoy and then is washed or run through the dishwasher. I don't think anything of it. I watch the kids share popsicles with the dogs, them a lick, the dog a lick, them a lick, the dog a lick. They have never gotten sick! Thats kind of gross and I wouldn't do that, but the kids share anything with the dogs, even a glass of water.

| Tee hee! I wonder what these squeamish types would have thought about Sam sitting in my lap sharing my grilled chicken - off my fork?
