I just read through your thread...so sorry you are going through this. I also believe the breeder needs to step up and get little Joey well again. I think this breeder sold you a sick pup, and let him go tooo early and too small to begin with. I will be praying that Joey gets well, and comes home to his mommy. Please try and get some sleep, and keep us posted on his progress, we are all pulling for the little guy....((((HUGGZZ)))) |
Hoping Joey made it thru the trip back to the breeder. You really need to show the letter the ER vet gave you, and let her know about the puppy lemon laws in FL. |
Any Updates today on Joey? :( I'm praying for you and him! |
Reading your thread today. I am so sorry and I am sending a prayer for you. We do fall in love with our little fur babies and it hurt so when they don't do well |

Email from the breeder Woke up to this email from the breeder: Joey is not doing too well. I have been feeding him every hour but he is very weak. It is very hard for me watching a puppy I raised who was a playful, energetic little boy become this very weak little thing. I am not sure if he will make it but I am not very hopeful. I cannot believe that this gorgeous little guy who never had any health issues is now like this. I am doing everything I can. ------------------------ Even when I dropped him off it seemed she still believes I'm to blame for Joeys condition. She insists he was fine before. |

Anyway, we are still praying Joey will pull through. Thanks for the update. |
I totally agree with BabyGirlRosie!!! I can not believe this breeder is making you feel guilty after you only having him for only one week!!! Save your letter from the vet! Our prayers are with you! |
Joey So sorry, not the news we all wanted to hear. Of course the breeder wants to blame you or it would be her issue! This dog was sick before you got him and she should know that. He urgently needs to go to a vet who can diagnose and treat him properly. Just feeding him if it is not being absorbed does no good. I understood that the breeder would have her vet see him? Please ask her if she would take him to a good ER NOW or the little baby will not make it. We are on borrowed time and he needs professional help NOW. I know you are at the mercy of this breeder as this is your last hope, but she needs to do more fast or Joey will not make it. From her point of view doing nothing is the easy and cheapest way out. This is your baby and you need him well. She can do this if she takes him to the vet. My heart bleeds for you having such misery with a pup you expected to enjoy. You have nothing to lose by pushing the breeder into action, but she holds the cards now. You should not have to be pleading with the breeder like this. Where are her morals and has she no shame selling an underweight pup so soon? Sorry for the rant but I am so disgusted with the way the breeder has reacted to this sad situation. Good luck and may God give you all strength to save this baby. |

There is no reason for you to have any guilt over what is happening to this baby. You have done all you can do to save the baby....even the vet has told you with more money and more testing, he was not sure the pup could be saved. This is why these people let these babies go at such an early age...they are most frail between 5-10 weeks old....if things are going to start showing up wrong, this is the time it USUALLY happens. If she no longer has the baby, it is YOUR problem, it is YOUR fault, and the "breeder" will do whatever she can do or say, to absolve herself from any responsibility. Get your heart and mind in a place where you can accept the fact this precious baby is not going to make it, and move onto the next step...trying to get the breeder to have the pup autopsied at a vet school....A&M used to charge $75.00 for that...so it isnt financially prohibitive. You just remember you had nothing to do with that baby's illness and there is nothing that YOU or your vet could have done to get him well....more tests could have possibly diagnosed what the issue was, but this is WAY more than just hypoglycemia that frequent feedings and a little sugar was going to cure. |
