| Thanks so much for the support, I definitely needed some yorkie professionals to tell me i'm not crazy, and that his hair is entirely too short. He has a few outfits that he wears everyday, as much as he hates that. But we've had him in shirts for a little while just because he has a food alergy to chicken that we just realized so we had the shirts to keep from scratching ![]() I was thinking of another puppy cut. The groomer at petsmart took one of my favorite parts of my day away, brushing his hair out and styling it |

| When Amy got her first hair cut she also was very matted. I was brushing her but she fought with me so much that I couldn't get the mangles out of her between her trying to take chomps out of my hand. He first cut was also a shaved looking cut but not quite as bad as Chewy got. It took me to get all her shots before it was safe to take her to the groomer but since then her fur has grown back but I keep it about 3 inches long. It tends to curl but will never let her get matted again and now that she is 9 months old she has grown up enough to let me brush her. Chewy's hair will grow back but might take a couple of months. |

| Thank you, it gives me a little hope. I really miss brushing him. All i really have is his head with hair on it. Which lets me put bows in, but I really enjoyed brushing him down. Also i was not even nearly ready to give up his cute little baby fur. I had thought worst case scenario, was a short cut. Not a full shave. I wanted him to keep that black fur for a little longer |

| First off welcome to yorkie talk, and congrats on your puppy, he is darling. Secondly I would be so ANGRY at the groomer that they would have had to call the police if this had happened to Lola. At 10 weeks old and from the looks of the first picture it is hard to believe that he needed to be shaved down to his skin. Most 10 week olds are still with their mom at the breeders so I really can not believe his hair was that far gone that he had to be shaved bare. The puppy hair stages are so cute and now that jerk of a groomer has deprived you of seeing it and capturing pictures of it. I know if it was me I would have refused to pay and would have been making such a fuss they would have been paying me to get me leave the store. One thing I have always done is refuse to pay the bill until I saw my dog. In the past I usually had the opposite not enough was taken off, so I would send the dog back in for a little more trim. I am lucky now, I found an independent operator that lets me bring Lola in after I bathe her, I sit next to her as she cuts her, in fact I was there today, she cut on Lola for over an hour and LOL my DH did not even notice that a lot of hair was gone. I know it will not give you his hair back but I would still go back in and a demand a full refund. You still can get satisfaction after the fact, I just wound up getting a refund at Home Depot on something we ordered that was not right, my husband decided to spend his time fixing it, which I did not feel was fair, so I got the mgr on the phone and just told him I expected a refund a nice credit, which he gave me, so it can happen and often more easily with chain stores. Of course this is all up to you, but IMHO they took an easy way out and then charged you and arm and a leg for a buzz cut.I would take my dog back up there with before and after pictures and a copy of this thread and tell the mgr that you will not leave until he makes it right and if not you will make it your mission to WARN everyone that steps foot into their grooming area what the "after" looks like.

|
Awwwww, I had a groomer do that to Teddy once too. I honestly don't think that they should shave your dog like that without discussing, I would definitely write them a little note to express my displeasure. It really is upsetting, people kept asking me what "teddy was" and of course I didn't feel like taking any pictures!
that's exactly why this get's me, they took something away from you that YOU will never get back, that is so unfair, you should not have to pay for that, they should. And ALL their groomers she be told that. Writing a letter will do very little, hitting them in their pocketbook, embarrassing them in front of potential customers is what will get their attention and possibly bring about a change, it will make them think twice about doing it to someone again.

| YT Young Pup | Poor puppy he looks bald. I would be so un happy. But at least it grows out. I normally have Kudos shaved, but not that short, And we keep his head hair long to give him a moehawk and he looks like a sweet heart yet a little dare devil!! lol

| I totally feel your pain as something very similar just happened to me yesterday. I was very specific with the groomer and told her that I only wanted Cooper's face trimmed up a bit, along with his feet, legs, privates and tummy and that his top knot was NOT to be trimmed at all. Well, imagine my surprise when I show up to pick him up and his body is shaved, his top knot was cut off, along with all of the hair on his face. He literally looks like a chihuahua now. Cooper had NO mats at all because I am diligent about brushing him twice a day, and I use a comb on his face and redo his top knot every two days. I was BEYOND livid and asked to speak to the manager. The manager took one look at Cooper and blanched. I was in tears as it had taken SIX months to grow his top knot in and get the hair around his eyes long enough to not poke him, etc. The manager told me that the grooming would be complimentary and assured me the hair would grow back, blah, blah, blah. She said they were running a bit behind so they were rushing through their clients. Seriously? Why not just call and reschedule the appointment instead of scalping the clients. I know the fur will grow back, but why in the world would a groomer do such a thing to a Yorkie? I used a reputable groomer who has been in business for over 20 years in my area, but I guarantee you I will not be going back. Anyone have any idea how long it will take for the facial hair to fill out and the top knot to grow back? I can deal with the body being shaved, but his head is something else.

| I am so sorry this happened to your fur baby! They really shaved him off ...I don't know if this was mentioned, but please put a thin shirt on him or some sunscreen when going outside in the sun, he can get sunburned.

| Aw...sweet little guy, the hair will grow back. He looks cold and would sunburn. He still cute as ever, just needs a little more hair for confidence ![]() I've cut Zhoie's hair since I brought her home and believe me, I've made quite a few mistakes myself. I leave Zhoie's head/face and legs long and shave her back. In the winter months, it's so cold here, I let her back grow out some though. Finding him a good reputable groomer will make a world of difference for you both.

| poor pup, my draco is going to be 15wks i'm holding off on the groomers as long as possibly. the horror stories are terrible, but i've been good about mats, and he tolerates brushings most of the time.
