| ![]() I got him a little collar and id tag. He HATES it. He would run in a circle and then lay flat on the floor and wont move. I think it's because the id tag makes noise. I want to use the collar just for id purpose, not to walk him with it. He's only 9 weeks old and I dont take him outside yet. He stays here with me, I am always watching him, and when I am not here, he stays in his ex-pen. I am just scared that one day he would run away and doesnt have is ID tag with him, accidents happen :-/ Should I get a harness or keep trying the collar? I took it off because I felt so bad for the poor thing and I wanted to make sure I was doing the right thing before putting it back on again.

| ![]() Keep trying, you are right to want the collar for id's. Can you separate the Id's so they don't jingle, if you think the noise is the issue. What sort of collar is it? How wide etc.. For Caleb I've bought a cat collar, someone else on here mentioned the idea, as it's light to start with. |

| ![]() Yeah it's a very thin collar, like a cat collar and I leave enough space so my two fingers fit through it. It's just one id tag but it makes noise when it moves agains the metal thing that holds it. When I grab the collar so I can put it on him, he runs away as soon as he hears it jingle lol but he's not afraid of the jingle though, in fact, his favorite toy is a ball that has a little metal inside that jingles. ![]()

| ![]() It MIGHT be the collar - some pups just take a while to get used to them.... ![]() If you think it might be the jingly id tags, then it might be worth thinking about the ones that just slide onto the collar....Boomerang Pet Tags: Guaranteed to last. Mailed today, Free Shipping. ![]() |

| ![]() I forgot to mention he does the same thing when I use the grooming wipes (berry scent) and when I clean his eyes ... So maybe he's just being a little baby? ![]()

YT 500 Club Member | ![]() I had to get my boy a collar with his info embroidered on it. He HATED the cute tags. I got the collar at Top Dogs Boutique in Kennesaw, GA. I don't see it on their website but you could probably order by phone. The collar came in the mail in just a few days after ordering.

YT 500 Club Member | ![]() I know what you mean. I bought several darling ones for Fritz. Somehow he would get them in his mouth no matter what I did. I think his jaw is disjointed LOL.

| ![]() My Bella tried to get her collar off during the first few days, but she finally got used to it. As far as tags go, if your puppy is AKC registered, you can participate in the AKC CARS (companion animal recovery service) and get a collar that has the AKC ID number embossed on it. I just went ahead and got a metal ID tag because her rabies vaccination tag is metal anyways. |

| ![]() If it is the noise you can purchase rubber rings which goes around the tags. I know they sell them at Pet Supplies Plus and I think Petco and Petsmart where you make up the ID tags. |

| ![]() I use lightweight tags and a little bell on the girls collars so I can locate them. We would give them treats and fuss over their "necklaces" at first and it wasn't long before they got used to putting them on each morning. I didn't let the sleep in them at first until I knew they wouldn't get caught up in them. |

| ![]() Just keep putting it on him for very short periods of time and watch him very closely when he has it on. They can get their lower jaws and legs hung up in it and just panic if they do so when he's still getting used to it, watch him constantly. Eventually, if you go slowly enough in only putting it on him for only very short sessions, they do accommodate themselves to wearing their collar. If you can put it on him then immediately toss a squeaky toy or treat across the floor and get him distracted playing or having fun while wearing the collar, it helps them accept it faster.

| ![]() It's just going to take him a while to get used to it. When you put it on him distract him by playing or with treats. I think leaving a harness on all the time would be uncomfortable. Callie scratched at hers a little when she first got one but now she gets nervous like when its off for baths and has even brought it to me to put back on here. Make sure it's soft though and not to big and bulky.

| ![]() I would like to suggest a break away cat collar for tags. Next, I would suggest microchipping the puppy....cant loose that. |
