| ![]() Do the results are in and Minnie is a purebred 100%. Dud anyone fall over lol I almost did. I was happy but shocked at the same time. I read all 9 papers and my husband was like well u have your yorkie now where's her hair lol. Even tho she's purebred something's still seems off to me. She doesn't look like one at all. So I have to get to the bottom of it. The only thing I remember hearing about if there purebred snd don't look like it is the way they were bred. Does anyone know what thst means?? Where do I go from here. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | ![]() Purebred means very little, the tests aren't that sophisticated yet to tell us much. I believe that particular test might just tell you what the dog is "mostly". Purebred SHOULD mean a lot, it should mean that the dog will look and behave in a particular way, but breeders have to KNOW how to breed, meaning if a dog has a fault you either don't breed it or you breed it with another dog whose traits will overcome that fault. This means you also need to know which faults are dominant and which are recessive. BYB don't care what their breeding dogs look like, they breed pets they aren't trying to breed good examples of the breed. If you took a purebred beautiful example of the breed and then bred it to a poor example of the breed and kept breeding, choosing the worst examples to breed, it wouldn't take long before the offspring looked nothing like a Yorkie. This is why the choosing of breeding stock is vitally important. I hope you do not breed this dog, even though you have something that says it's purebred. Again the ACA registry is not reliable, they are owned by Petland, who sells open registration to anyone.

| ![]() Great to know! Now you'll have to keep posting photos because of course we need to see her progression. We all knew for a fact that she was a doll, now we know she's a darling YORKIE!!!! I'd sure like to see pics of the parents! |

| ![]() My under jaw fell to the ground! Now we know what Minnie is (other than a doll!), but it's still shocking. Just like dollydoodle said, keep on posting pictures ![]()

| ![]() Well, I do agree that your baby was obviously bred without the true Yorkie traits in mind so recessive traits cropped in, BUT I am totally shocked to find out she doesn't have any other breed in her. I am sorry that I said she was mixed, but it is cool to know she isn't. As for her hair, it could be some issue going on, but it could also just be "normal" for Minnie. Know what I mean? If she has some recessive genes that were eventually bred out to show up in Minnie..it could just mean that she's going to have different hair. DNA test or no DNA test, Minnie is an absolute doll and I know she's gonna be spoiled for the rest of her days. I am so glad you have your answer now, though. Now, you can move forward ![]()

| ![]() I am shocked as well as most of I prolly are. If she was not bred well I'm still not quite sure whst that means. It seems rite now the only logical reasoning but I'm not giving up yet I want to get to the bottom of this yet. Minnie is amazing wether she was a mix or a purebred we arnt going to b breeding but thst decision was made pretty much when we got her. With her being so tiny I don't want to put her thru that. The only reason I would have bred her is to as another addition to our family eventually but one Minnie is all we need ![]() |

| ![]() Wow, according to this website, short hair is dominant! That means that either one of Minnie's parents was a rare short-haired Yorkie, or she has a rare spontaneous dominant mutation. I'm betting that she has a rare mutation. Now, I hope that Minnie's short hair doesn't have anything to do with her current itchy skin problems... Hair Length |
