I'm getting a dna test done. Then what??

I am no expert but since I've been on yorkietalk I've read great information about preparations before breeding your dog.
Excuse me if I'm wrong but isn't it obvious that before breeding your dog and selling the pups as pure breed, you first have to make tons of tests in order to determine if the dog is healthy and won't pass bad genes to the pup?
The history behind the dogs is also important in order to know for sure that the breeding dogs are purebred and healthy as well?
Did you check the history behind the breeding dogs? Did you make the tests?
Do you have the results of all the research you did before breeding?
If a pup is going to be sold as a purebred with a purebred price, isn't it ethical to do everything in your power to make sure the pups are really purebred and healthy?

Answer Yes.... And that starts with using a reputable registry. ANd then a very reputable breeder. They need to keep very accurate records, as well of course be very responsible with their breeding females and males. It is a very serious business to mis-represent who the breeding pair is, either deliberately or accidentally.

That's exactly what I was thinking when I was looking at pretty much every mix possible lol. If I recall did the breeder mention at all about having multiple dogs one being this breed?? This thread is so long I forget. Lol. The funny part is she kept telling me her hair will grow when I questioned her when minnie was about 13 weeks. If her "yorkies" and my Minnie look nothing alike how long did she think I would go with out wondering and trying to get answers somewhere else since all I got from her was a joke. It's really a shame that it had to come down to this. To call ur self a breeder and try and play innocent people for fools but never say never anything is possible right, ya never know. if it turns out she is purebred lol i will owe a huge apology to her, but honestly i think anyone that's Not blind would question it. First because she doesn't look like a yorkie and when someone questions the breeder as an adult and professionally and gets screamed at and threatening to take Minnie back and her telling me I don't love her and regretting selling her to me and then tells me something so bogus about giving it time and her turning it around and making me feel bad about sll of this, i end up apologizing to her and begin questioning my self. Then a month later I send messages to more then one number and hear nothing back. How long should I have waited for her hair to grow lol. I just wish I knew where her brother was and to c how he is doing

For now, just focus on keeping up to date on her progress and care. You should be receiving back the DNA report soon.

I agree, just focus on the positive and know that many of us here have your back and totally agree with your choice to have your pup tested. The best thing you can do now it just wait for the results and try to ignore the breeders comments on her or if she is PM-ing you just don't respond until you know for sure.

You registered this pup with what registry? The ACA?
It is my understanding that the only reputable registry in the U.S. is the AKC....so if you are on the up and up, why would you register this pup with the aca and not AKC....I find that curious.

You are well within your rights to question her integrity if you can see obviously she doesn't look like other Yorkies her age.
No apologies should be necessary, you haven't in any way maligned the breeder

Such a good point, my breeder has a file on each pup with all that information listed, how else do you know what info to send to the AKC, CKC and UKC
