| not eating... ok so I brought home my baby on Monday and since then she really hasn't ate the dog food but she will eat what I eat,...chicken and stuff like that. but will not touch her food and its the food the breeder gave me so I don't see why not. she sleeps with me follows me and everything so she must be comfy right? im wih her all day...I just am getting worried because I don't want her to think she can eat table food all the time. help? please!

Senior Yorkie Talker | Have you tried the canned dog food or putting omega 3 salmon oil on it? I find it helps my Banana to eat better. Yorkies can be picky eaters.

| How old is the pup? If she is too young she may not have been fully weaned Hopefully that isn't the case and she's just adjusting to her new home. Rosie didn't eat much when we first got her...I added chicken broth to her kibble and warmed it up. Make sure to keep her hydrated, esp. if she's not eating much.

| Does she have all her teeth through? You might consider not giving her people food but instead try to add things to the puppy food to make it more appealing. If all of her teeth are not all the way through then you may need to soften the food as well. |

| Just keep offering her the food that the breeder sent. She's going through an adjustment period and still trying to get her bearings. I made the mistake of trying to change Sam's food too soon after I got him home, and it's been a 3 month struggle to get on the same page regarding food. You can encourage her to eat by following others' suggestions about moistening and warming the food a little, and as she gets older, slowly reduce to amount of added liquids.

| I gave Pixie wet food in the beginning and I would let her lick it off my finger and slowly lower my finger into the dish that had the wet food. I did this until she got the hang of it and it only took a few days.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | For the first couple of days after we brought Jasper home he didn't eat much either. I think he was adjusting to new environement, missing his litter mates, etc. So we added just a little Beechnut baby food (chicken w/chicken broth) to his kibble and he lapped it up. I also learned about Nutrical on here and would give him some of that every morning. After a couple of days it was like he had lived here his whole short life and eating everything he was fed. I hope this helps. Good luck and congratulations on your new addition!!
