| I agree with you. Unfortunately I live in an area with not too many choices for vet care and the "hospital" facility is really bad. I'd love to live nearby one of the big animal hospitals with a knowledgable staff and access to high tech testing etc. You should keep looking until you find a good fit.

| I know dog food is a touchy subject sometimes here but I have to say it. The manufacturers of Science Diet help fund many vet schools. They also give the schools a lot of product and other perks. The schools depend on the large manufactures of pet food to help subsidize them. When a vet goes into business these companies are there to help them with their start up and the vets depend on these companies for their RX foods. Places like Hills give the vet samples for their clients as well as start up packs, etc. Vets also get personal perks for being a good customer, just like human docs do from their drug reps. Really vets are not the best source of information about the breeds either. Many vets only deal with backyard breeders for most of their career and most of us know that there are vets that also serve the puppy mill industry. Vets study the medical aspects of many animals not proper breeding practices or even very much on nutrition. They depend on the pet food industry to do the study of what foods the animals should eat. Obviously there is a wide range of ideas in that as you can see by all the different types of diets available through various companies. I'm surprised you didn't smack that tech in the head for calling your baby a mixed breed! OK, you shouldn't smack anyone but I would have felt like crawling over the counter after him myself if he said that about my baby! And if they ever tried to tell me that feeding my dog corn and by products is better than good quality ingredients.they would have gotten a lecture longer than any professor gave them in school! |

| By the way, I live in central NY. I tired Frontline Plus for my cats because they were picking up ticks in the woods and fields they frequent. Those ticks loved the stuff. I was pulling off the most well nourished ticks you eve saw! Never again! |

| I am soo happy to hear I am NOT crazy and that I am right Frontline does not always work!! I think I am going to call my groomer tomorrow and see where she takes her three because I trust her 150% with my two so I am sure wherever she trust hers to go I would too.

| I try to take things with a grain of salt. A lot of vets are not knowledgable about breeds or nutrition. I'm not saying they all aren't, but it's really not what they're there for. I just look for a vet whom I trust and can take care of my dog when he's in need. You have to remember too that a lot of times they are dealing with very incompetent dog owners. We are the minority here at YT and other dog forums. They just want to give the safest advice and the most simple. FL Plus does not work for us either. It seems to attract ticks so we don't use it anymore.

| We love jasmin's vet.. recommended by our close friends. She is a natural pet health vet. We love that since we also like natural health for ourselves.

| Wow! Nice bedside (tableside) manner! What about breed specific problems? If you don't know the breed I think you'd be SOL! Seriously, I'd find a vet who is a bit more knowledgeable about Yorkies, really.

| One other question, I am starting to doubt the vet in all areas now!! Stella got her first round of shots with the breeder and I have the Florida health cert showing that, she got the 2nd round from this vet and then due to a tummy issue and med's they had me wait a little while and get another round with her rabies... So correct me if I am wrong but would that not be all three rounds? The vet told me no it was just the second because they did not count the shots she got at the breeder because they do not know what they were but yet I showed my Fl health cert signed by the vet clearly listing the shots!! They want me to come back in another 3 weeks to drop another $200 on what she called booster shot. Of course if that is right I have no problem paying but it just sounded odd to me the more I think about it!!
