| Boarding at Vet while on Vacation Hello all! I've decided to board my pup at my vets office while I'm on Vacation for 5 days. We are flying and will be on a friends power boat so no chance of taking her with me. I will take all of her favorite stuff..food, snacks, toys...but I feel that I am abandoning her. No chance of her staying home with my 18 yr. old grandson. Just wondering how everyone else handles this and need advise on boarding in case I skip something. Florida sounds fun but it's gonna be hard to leave her. My other dogs are well adapted and will be taken care of but Hannah is a hand full. I would be so afraid that something would go wrong and noone would recognize it or that she would run out of the door and get swooped up by a hawk. If I keep typing I might change my mind and stay home!!!

| I think boarding at the vet is okay if your baby gets sick you know she will be taken care of. I boarded at my groomers once. It turned out good. My vet gave me all the cautions of boarding so I was prepared

| I've never boarded Mandie, but I've boarded Shelby at the vet several times. I don't know if I could do it for Mandie though...we'll see when and if the occassion arises. The boarding at the vet has always gone really well for Shelby and I know he has care if he gets sick. If it gets too much for you to bare, could you possibly hire a pet sitter to come stay at your house for those days? Some areas are better than others at having that option so I thought I'd throw it out there for you.

| I have never boarded and don't think I could. We took a tour of a couple doggy daycare and boarding places, but I wouldn't leave them at any of the ones we saw. We were lucky and had a great groomer that came to our house and stayed while we were away. She brought her yorkie, so the boys had a blast, and got to still sleep in our bed at night. A couple other times I had a friend come over and stay with them. When we took our first vacation last year, we brought them along. They stayed with us in our hotel at night, and while we were out during the day they went to daycare. It worked perfect for us because they would be so tired from playing all day that they would eat dinner and sleep all night Now that we have moved I'm not sure what we will do for a sitter though. |

| I have boarded my large dogs at vet before I found my pet sitter. My vet though is a vet, daycare, and groomer. During the day the go to daycare and kennel at night, the kennel I use had a web cam so I could check on them when I wanted, and they were groomed the morning of pickup. Now I have an awesome pet sitter, who stops by twice a day or more if needed. And takes care of all my animals (dogs, cats, rabbits, fish, and turtle). With so many animals, I needed a pet sitter anyhow. Most of the time my little ones come with me, however, on trips where they can't come they stay home. I have a gated section next to cat door so they can come inside to eat and stay cool or go to the backyard with large dogs to play. |

YT 500 Club Member | It is so hard to board them. I boarded my first yorkie, Max at the vet once. The boarding went just fine and he learned a new trick while he was there. He learned how to howl like a Bassett Hound. LOL!

| I have to travel for my job and whenever I have to I always board Sophie Kate with her Vet. They have a boarding and daycare available and have been boarding Sophie Kate since she was 6 months old (maybe 5). I have looked at other places and even bringing in a Pet Sitter but boarding is the right solution for her (she loves going there, starts her happy puppy dance when we pull in).

| When I worked out the Vet we had boarding dogs there. We took turns going in after hours- feeding- playing- etc. etc. Depending on how many dogs are crated it can get very loud- Just make sure your little one can handle that type of setting.

| I'm sure your baby will do well at the vet...after all, it is much safer than a kennel. I only boarded Max at a kennel once when he was little and he came back sick. After that, we were recommended a pet sitter by our groomer and he went and stayed with her anytime we needed. She was amazing with him and he loved to go see her. If possible for next time, ask the vet or your groomer if they know of any good sitters.

| just make sure that there is absolutely no mix of boarded dogs and sick dogs. Also make sure that someone is there 24 hours. |
