Please don't feel you need to apologize for your choice of the puppy you choose. Bringing an animal into ones home is a very personal decision that ONLY you can make. A thought out decision like you seemed to have made is one that you will most likely be able to live with for a long time. Like you I support rescues but that does not mean a rescue dog is right for my personal situation. I took a chance with Lola who is also a mix, it turned out very well for me and I wish you the same luck and look forward to seeing pics of your little guy.

Agreed. I'm a HUUUUGE supporter of rescues. I always encourage family/friends to go that route first for a while before going to a breeder. However, that being said, my Thalia is from a breeder. She's my first puppy and first breeder experience. Does that make me a bad person for being "hypocritical?" Absolutely not.

Donna is right that it's a personal choice so I hope that you really don't feel bad.

I agree 100% with this. It is most important to make whatever personal decision is right for you and your circumstances, and to pick the pet you are sure you can give unconditional love to for all of it's life.

BTW, I have one purebred AKC reg. Yorkie, and 3 Morkies, and without any doubt I have 4 equally perfect and wonderful pets for life.

No doubt he is cute. No doubt the OP will be asked for his lifetime what he is mixed with. I get that with Uni almost every day. She is full yorkie. But she's long legged, light haired, and scraggly. There are a lot of full blooded yorkies out there that don't look it.

Yes, I know and I was just wondering. I ask not only because he looks mixed but because of the photo's in the OP album. His litter mates are cream and fluffy like a poodle and in one a litter mate in tri-colored. Definitely questionable as to if he is mixed.

Doesn't make him any less cute or lovable!!

I've had dogs all of my life both mutt & pure. After being on this site for the last few months I'm sure learning some things. I too picked up my pup at 8 weeks but I didn't know any better. Not sure if this is a Yorkie thing or if it should apply to all. I picked up my Min Pin when she was 5 weeks old because her mom got bit by a snake. Lots of people sell or let go of pups at 6 & 8 weeks. My pup is fine but I still watch her like a hawk. Can someone tell me if this 12 week rule should apply to all puppies??

The best way to know for each breed is to look at the breed club like with yorkies there's is the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America and there website is ytca.com. Small breeds mature slower then larger breeds. A lot of breeders let puppies go younger then 12 weeks because it costs them more money and more time but reputable breeders arnt in it for the money they are in it to better the breed.

I wish it applied to all breeds since they learn from their litter mates. I don't have any personal experience with getting large young puppies since both of my 12 year old large dogs were rescued from the shelter at 3 months and 6 months. But from fostering, the older pups do better in single dog homes
