| ![]() Hi all sorry I am not around much but life has been really busy. hope fully it will calm down soon. I have a question I am having a hard time getting Gizmo to drink water, so I started putting just a couple drops of milk in it just to make it cloudy and he drinks it, but wont touch it if it is just plain water. is this going to hurt him. I just don't know what else to do to get him to drink. he is now 4 months old and eating blue buffalo puppy and doing good except for the water thing. |

| ![]() I understand your concern. I had it too with our, now 4 month old, Princess Sophie. I asked the vet about it and because she's growing well and she gets moisture in with her food, it's not really a concern. That plus the fact that I've been watching her more closely, and have noticed she is drinking throughout the day. Just in small amounts. Well...she only weighs 3.2 lbs. LOL As for putting mild into your pet's water, I wouldn't think that would be the best thing to do because mild goes sour very quickly when left out of the fridge. There has to be a better way. I'm sure someone with more knowledge than me will have advice to give you. Hang on and I'm sure someone will be by soon!! Good luck!!

| ![]() Oh should have been clearer don't put it in regular water dish. I just put a little in a different dish he drinks and then I dump what is left, then has the main water dish left down & I know they shouldn't have milk but he don't eat canned food just the dry so he don't get water that way. I wanted to know if he was drinking so I measured a half a cup of water in the morning and at night when I poured it back in measuring cup it was still a half a cup thats why I got worried that he was not drinking enough and tried the couple drops of milk thing and he drinks it |

| ![]() I think he may see his reflection with clear water. Change to a ceramic bowl, try one of your own bowls before buying a new one for him. My Ruby will not drink out of a stainless bowl (or the black ceramic one with his name on it !)

![]() I didn't even think of that and Mandie has the same issue. She won't even eat her food out of a stainless bowl.

If it wasn't down to fear, I would ask the breeder, did they supply plently of water and encourage it to drink the water. Because my breeder, told me to try and give them water and wean them off milk, because it would hinder them drinking water. He could just be too use to the milk, if it's not the fear. Jasper doesn't eat from his bowl, or plastic plates I've tried him with still. I have to put the kibble on the sofa or his bed. The only thing he will eat from the plate is liver. He'll lick it clean. | |

| ![]() I was going to say the same. Just a few drops of pure chicken broth with no fat will do wonders.

YT 1000 Club Member | ![]() Go figure ![]() My (3) guys must drink a Gallon between them each day. I have two bowls inside and two outside, and still have to watch closely to keep water in them.

| ![]() TY Everyone for the advice, I put his water in a white ceramic bowl and wouldn't touch it but then I tried a small white plate and for some reason will drink off of that. So i will just have to make sure there is water in it at all times because it don't hold much. LOL |
