Scared about how big my puppy will be

I got Elvis at age 5 years and Izzy at 3 years through a friend of our rescue. . Izzy is 3 lbs and Elvis is 2.8 lbs. We have had no trouble with bonding. However I would never purposely buy a puppy trying to get a " teacup". I used to think I would but experiecne has changed my mind. My Elvis is a wonderful little beast who will take on anything. They lassume they will get to go everywhere with me and they usually do, along with my 14 lb maltese. The maltese is much easier. You don't have to wonder who is going to try and pick him up or step on him. I have to take a bag carrier in case the stores are busy or if ther are small children whose parents haven't taught thim manners, or have any themselves. My Niko is 4 months old and is 3. 4 lbs and I am not at all unhappy. Also if you have done your research you should realize that $2000 is no that much for a good quality yorkie.

I totally agree! It is so scary when these little ones, think they are big and try to do all the same things as a big dog does! I, too am on pins and needles with my two! It is so much less stress with a average size yorkie!

I have a terrible headache...let me suggest this to you, read here for a few hours, read a lot, and you will see that your thought process is largely not in line with us, we love animals, we truly love Yorkies we do not use the word TEACUP and we love them big or small....because we love animals for "who" they are not their size.

Now as for the rest, I'm guessing you went in to this, like many of us did, unwittingly, uneducated and unprepared for the reality...the fact that you came here tells me you have a heart....your very welcomed here, we are here to help you....and we may even let your pup join the "Teapot Club" IF he ever qualifies!

I understand your point of view. But I disagree, My sister owns a tiny female yorkie that is completely healthy with champion bloodline. Yorkies are not meant to be so small so if any of us have a yorkie that is below 4-5lbs your puppy has been genetically cross bred to be small.breeders have been doing this for years, did you guys know that most dogs except the chihuahua were once wolfs????? Humans have cross bred over centuries so this is nothing new!!!!! Teacup is a term used too loosely in my opinion but its a term used to identify a dog that is below 4lbs if someone does not feel comfortable using this term, The can use the word small or tiny. But that's the reality of it!!

I completly understand that she paid alot of money for a little yorkie and that the puppy may not be what she wanted , NONE of us wants to get taken, when I used to breed , (not anymore) I keep my tiny ones until they were 5-6 months old just because of their size and sceened every single buyer.also I bought back any puppy that someone was not happy with. that only happened once to me but I was willing to have satisfied owners than someone bashing me for something I had no control over, maybe you can contact the lady and she will refund some of your money just so she won't have to go court again. please post a pic of your puppy I'd love to see what he looks like

There is no such thing as a teacup it is a word that is used by bad breeders so they can jack up the price and get you to pay more money. Sorry.

Really the age you get the dog has nothing to do with how well they bond. My mom rescued a yorkie who was 5 or 6 at the time and he is stuck to her like glue if she is sad hes there, if she gets hurt or is not feeling where there he is and if she has to leave to go some where he is sad and looks and sits at the window until she gets back.

Yes good breeders can normally estimate the size of a puppy because they know there breeding dogs lines and know what there breeders have normally had. Sadly teacup is only used by bad breeders so they can charge a higher amount for the puppy and usually to make the puppy seem smaller they will even lie and sell them to you younger then what they are saying. Only bad breeders will use the word teacup. They also normally breed female dogs under 5 pounds to get these "teacups" which is very dangerous and should not be done and when they do it, it shows they don't care at all of the breeding female or her health and safety would be there number one concern. In the united states the AKC is the only reputable registry. I am sorry if you feel like you are being attacked or jumped on but we have seen many people come here obsessing over the weight of there dog and then under feeding or even not loving there dog because it go to weigh to much.

I use to say that I wanted a "teacup" until I found out that most of them have a lot of health issues. I did get my furbaby Honey and she only weights 3.7 pounds. I love her size because I have never wanted a big dog. Now if a paid 2k for a dog that was suppose to be a certain size I would be very pissed off and I think you should try and get some of your money back. Also you do want to make sure the dog is healthy. That is very important! You can learn a lot from people on here. I know because Honey is my first yorkie and this is where I learned everything.

Also I am just one to believe that AKC is not important if you are not trying to show your dog. If you are then yes AKC is very important for you.

Yes I agree if I was told my pup was going to be small and i paid more for it to be small Id be mad also so I dont blame you. Obviously your breeder didnt know her lines or she wouldnt have told you the adult size incorrectly
