| I don't have a whiner.... I have a barker... That's how he talks to me and it can get sooo annoying... I've tried time outs, I've tried walking away, I've tried ignoring him.... That's one thing he just won't get through his head. I've quit using "no" in an effort not to confuse and now use "enough" for barking. Bevo is now 4 1/2.... Good luck!

| My DH just calls Mina "fussy britches". Ya,she talks, whines, pouts, and barks. I think this is what makes them so much like little people. She always manages to get her point across. The only time it bothers me is if we have guests and she wants to be the CENTER of everything. A bit bratty |

| I honestly no longer have a structured daily training schedule as life is too hectic. My other 3 do not have this "problem" and responded well to initial training. Bevo and I have trained for countless hours.... Have gone through 2 different schools with licensed professionals, clicker trained, etc, and although I will never accept defeat, I will accept he is just a vocal baby and likes to "tell" me what's on his mind. Lol! I have considered using a bottle with rocks next (shaking it to startle him) as I've heard that could be effective??? Have also heard that squirting him with water is helpful but sounds cruel! (And messy!) I'm open to any ideas!!

| If anyone ever gives the dog a part of what they are eating you can bet your dog is going to think that everyone should share every time they have something. They don't understand that you or whoever it is that shared is doing it as a one time deal. They see it as something they should get every time and feel left out if you don't share every time. If anyone in your home or any visitor likes to share food or allow your dog to do things that you would prefer the dog not have you need to get them to stop. You can't teach the dog "NO" just sometimes. It has to be no at every occasion. It is a difficult thing to control sometimes, especially if you have kids. Gracie has never been a whiner but she is not as food motivated as some dogs I have had. They need to know what "NO" means and understand you mean it.....every time. |
