| New to Yorkie Talk! An Introduction Hello everyone, I would like to introduce myself. First let me say that I have been "lurking" (for the lack of a better word) on YT for 2 or 3 months, and I finally decided to become a member. I must say that I feel like I already know many of you. I have laughed and cried numerous times with all of you. You may be wondering why I haven't joined before now. Well, the reason is that I am not yet a Yorkie owner and didn't know if I should register yet since I don't know exactly when we will get our Yorkie. In September of this year, we lost our "Maggie", our 13 year old Cairn Terrier (cousin to the yorkie). It was more devastating than I could have possibly imagined. She was the sweetest dog ever and meant more to me than I even realized. I proclaimed that I would "never get another dog". Well that lasted about 2-3 weeks, and then my husband and I knew that our home would not be complete without another furbaby. We are currently re-doing some of the floors in our house and want to wait until the "construction" is complete before bringing a puppy into the house. So we wait, and wait, and wait... The waiting is true is agony... Well, that's pretty much our story, but I just felt compelled to join in with you ladies (and gentlemen). I just couldn't take not being a part of this group any longer. I can already tell what a great group of people you are. Thanks for sharing all of your stories. I hope to be able to share my own very soon.

| Welcome and glad you came out of the closet I did have to laugh when you said you decided to wait until your floors are done because I immediately thought maybe you should have gone through the puppy training days with the old floor down

| Hi, You have arrived in the wild west of the yorkie world! Just kidding. Welcome. I'm very sorry about Maggie. Maybe you could post a picture sometime. I'll bet she was pretty. I had to chuckle just a little bit when you said you were getting new floors before the puppy!

| Thanks! Thanks to all of you for the very warm welcome! My husband and I are both sitting here laughing about how silly it must sound to get the puppy after putting in new floors! ROFL! I must explain... We tore up the floors a few months ago, so we were in the process of redoing them BEFORE we lost our beautiful Maggie. We just thought the construction would be disrupting to a puppy! I know, I know... I've been thinking about house training and how we're going to protect these new floors. Oh well... I guess that's how it goes. If they get messed up, so be it! Can't wait to face that problem.

| I hope you have as good of luck as I've had! Housebreaking this one was easy this time. I bought some poochie bells to hang from the door knobs and she liked ringing them so much that we've had very limited accidents. Anyway, she's housebroken now!

| I know we love them! When I first got them and hung them on the door knob, it was kind of funny because I took her up to the door and held her front paws in my hands and we'd ring the bells together. It took no time for her to catch on. I couldn't believe it. She had some accidents, but I don't think she would have been housebroken now if I hadn't had them. She loves to ring them, though, and she'll ring them just to go out and play, too. The nice thing about them is that I can hear them from one end of the house to the other.
