| Just a brief question... My Yorkie was used as a stud today and he actually did what he was supposed to do (it was his 1st time )! Does his "girlfriend" still need to come back for more "boom-boom" sessions or is one tie sufficient? They were tied for about 15-20 minutes. |

| Sorry I don't have an answer...breeders will be here shortly. I just had to comment that this post literally made me laugh out loud. "Boom-boom"! HA HA!

| You might move your question to the breeders forum. |

| Most breeders go for a second or a third tie a day or two later to increase the likelihood of pregnancy. Personally, I like doing three ties 24 hours apart. You might want to read up on breeding a bit if you are planning on studding out your boy on a regular basis. Sorry if I sound rude, but your question is quite an elementary one for a breeder. Apart from doing your research, have you done the necessary tests to ensure his health and the health of his offspring?

| Before the dogs are bred all research should be done. Its really not something you can do flying by the seat of your pants or you can be putting the females life at risk.

| I am not a breeder so my question is not elementary. The use of my male is a one time request by a friend who has previously bred Yorkies so she is not "flying by the seat of her pants". Once the pregnancy is verified my plan is to neuter my male. Yes, both dam and sire have had health checks. Since I am not an expert, and wanted my male to be safe, I wanted to get reassurance of what I had been told. Thinking the forum would be a safe, friendly place to ask, I posted my question. Some of you need to keep in mind that the forums are for questions and sharing. I would rather ask than think I know the answer and ultimately endanger my pet. I thought the forum would be a quick and easy way to verify what she told me. |

| I typically do no more than 2 ties, with one day skipped between ties.

| If your friend is a breeder I am sure your boy is fine. There are some dangers for the little man also if not done correctly. Glad it all worked out ok .

| try the breeder section, but I see no harm in having him do the boom 1 or two more times spaced apart.
