| Do dogs cry? Hey everyone -- i feel bad posting this because it is not about my yorkie, but my hairless chinese crested. And i thought i would post it because as well as yorkie lovers, we are all ANIMAL lovers here (at least dog lovers) My Rooney has been crying lately. I can lay next to him and HEAR the tears squish as he blinks. He does not have any infection and i've checked for a foreign object or hair, but there is nothing in his eyes. This has been going on for a couple of days (at least, i've noticed it in the past few days). Do you guys think he could be experiencing sadness? Or just being Mucous-y? We are, after all, just animals too, and we cry. I have heard that pugs cry. I pick him up and give him lots of kisses and it seems to help. My only thought is that he is lonely or bored?? Any comments?? Have your furbabies cried before? |

| Yes, mine cry actual tears when they are unhappy....such as when I have been trying to take their pictures for too long of a time. Also, Cowboy will cry if I put him down for a nap and he just isn't in the mood for one. sounds like your little guy is upset about something. This is a time when you need to figure out the problem without causing behavior problems. Good luck |

| Yes, Mercedes just did it yesterday...honest. When she was tired and didn't want her picture taken any more her eyes whelled up with tears. I didn't find this one a ridiculous question. I am not saying every dog does....Mercedes and Cowboy tend to and Mavrick and Tea Leaf tend not to. |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Yes, they do. When I was taking Gracie to the vet's office because she had an eclampsia attack, we left without her babies. It was the most hearbreaking sound I've ever heard her make and she had literal tears in her eyes...even as sick as she was. We got home and she would stand by the x-pen for hours and cry to be let in...once again, real tears in/around her eyes. She would look at me for help...and I felt so helpless. okay...fixin to cry myself....

| I believe dogs cry too. I noticed my oldest one ,Sara will have real tears coming down her face if she can't go out with the other ones. She will stand at the door ( doggy door ) and make the darndest noise ( sort of snuffling ) and her face will be wet with tears by the time they come in. I only do this to her when she is in the last stages of pregnacy and since she is now 5 yrs old and retired , it doesn't happen anymore. Spencer ,my poodle is prone to gastro upsets that seem to cause him severe distress until the pepto or kaopectate work and during that time he whimpers and has tears running, so yes I think they cry also when sad or lonely.
