I disagree with your vet and would like for you to look to more yorkie experts like the YTCA which say a pup should not leave mom until 12 weeks. Vets are not experts in all breeds and I think maybe you might want to look for one who specializes in small breed dogs and talk to them.

I know many YT members are zealous about the 12 age recommendation, but geez...

this is a grown woman who sounds likes she's got a good head on her shoulders, has the support of a trusted vet, prior puppy experience and the time available to dedicate to a young pup.

I know I go against the general thought here, but personally, I agree with your vet! I brought my ZoE home very young. I'm all about getting my pup socialized & trained in my home, by me, as soon as she's weaned.

So happy for you! It sounds like you have been doing some research and your vet really sounds great (in that she called every day to check on your Gretel). Having a good relationship with your vet is definitely a good thing! That being said, I too agree with the masses that one should wait until the pups are at least 12 weeks old - it truly does make a difference - I have seen the differences firsthand with my Jack and Izzy; however, under the circumstances which you have described, I think maybe it is best to get little Princess Sophie home with you and Hansel. Get ready for the spoiling to begin! Oh, and I agree with the OP about these little ones - sometimes I think are worse than skin kids. Oh and what Guinness' mom said about yelping when they bite and then take their scruff in your mouth - it truly does work. Can't wait to see pictures of little Princess Sophie!

Thanks for your concern but as I stated earlier, Sophie had to be adopted into another mommy's litter as her own mommy was a biter. All her step-siblings have been adopted out as they were all two weeks older than her, and the adoptive mom doesn't want anything to do with her. She's had it with nursing pups at this point. All these things together tell me that she would be better off with me than at her current location. I think I am doing the right thing. I am home all day, I can give her whatever the vet says she needs and she can begin bonding with my DH and I. It all just makes more sense to me to do it this way vice waiting till 12 weeks but thank you for your concern.

I know bringing a yorkie puppy home before 12 weeks isn't ideal but if you know what to look out for then I'm sure you both will be just fine. I brought my Barkley home at 9 weeks and had a one time issue with hypoglycemia. I never had any problems with biting or socialization with him. He was the sweetest and best little pup I ever could have hoped for. Best of luck to you, enjoy your new little love.

Are you crazy or something?? LOL I'm a nervous wreck. I woke up last night every hour on the hour. HAHAHAHAHA I am excited beyond belief. There may be a big game on TV today but I think I'll be watching the fun in my den!!

I wasn't sure what time you'd be picking Princess Sophie up today, so I came to check and see if there were any new pictures, but it looks like you are probably on your way to pick her up... how exciting!!!!! Puppy breath is a wonderful thing! Can't wait for your updates and the pictures that I am sure will be forthcoming.
