Biewer is not recognized by any kennel club including FCI and the German Kennel Club it is only recognized by its own registry and UKC in the US.

The Biewer, pronounced (Beeva) originated in Hunsruck, Germany in 1984. Mr. & Mrs. Werner & Gertrude Biewer started the first Biewer through a recessive piebald gene occurrence in their Yorkshire Terriers. Although Mr. Werner Biewer passed away in 1997, his legacy lives on through this exquisite rare breed. The Biewer Breed started with foundation parents "Darling von Friedheck" and Fru Fru von Friedheck". Both dogs were blue and tan and were world youth winners in 1981 at Dortmund. Their mating brought the first blue, white and gold Biewer, "Schneeflocken von Freidheck", born in January of 1984. Mr. Biewer continued breeding his colored Biewers to achieve their white bellies and four white paws. In 1989 the Biewer was accepted as its own breed with the ACH German e.V.

| I'm so glad you are not buying from this person. She may have some house dogs but I will bet you anything she has caged dogs in that basement! You cannot let breeding male and female dogs run freely in any home At least not unless you want undocumented and unscheduled breedings. Her dog may have come from Germany but I'll bet you she got it from someone in the US and did not import it herself. I'll also bet she did not show you one current pedigree of her dogs. She is a backyard greeder at best and it sounds like she is close to a puppy mill or brokering on the side. It is very poor practice to feed kibble with a raw diet. The kibble digests much more slowly than raw food and the combination does bad things to the digestive system as well as other systems of the body. Occasional raw meat is fine but you cannot consistently combine the two different diets without causing issues in the dogs. I feel bad for the dogs but supporting people like this just enables them to continue exploiting the innocent animals. |

| I would trust your instincts on this one. If you get a bad feeling about the breeder, go to another breeder. I don't know this Merta person, but I have not heard her name in a good light yet.

The Biewer is ONLY it's own breed because Mr Biewer wanted to show it..so they allowed him to call it a seperate breed for showing, it is.. IN FACT, a tri colored yorkie, just like the AKC registered Parti Yorkies in the states.. however, unlike the AKC registered Parti yorkies in the states, they are not able to be registered with the AKC because their parents are not registered witht he AKC. To be a Biewer, one, or both of the parents have to come from Mr. Biewers lines of tri colored yorkies. (which he bred from two traditionally colored yorkies which carried the recessive piebald gene) which SOME yorkies DO carry. (even though there are those who like to keep putting their heads under the sand up to their necks and ignore it). Honestly.. someone has to check this forum constantly or all sorts of falsehoods get out there as fact.. tisk tisk tisk!!! Diana

Chocolates are also recessive gene colours. Some of the breeders I know have seen a chocolate crop up once in one litter and because they know their pedigrees back in generations, were able to avoid that happening again.
