| Ohhh, I know. It is anxiety time when you drop them off that morning and walk out the door. You'll cry when you get back in the car after leaving her - trust me. But buck up, blow your nose, stiffen your spine, realize that she's in excellent hands and go to work or shopping or do anything to keep your mind off the surgery as much as possible. Activity and diversion will be your best friends while waiting. Stay very busy! We've all been there and no exactly what you are going through.

| I agree that you need to have a good trust level with your vet. Ask questions and make sure testing is done beforehand. If your vet is good I would not be afraid to have it done. Of course it is always stressful to have your pet in surgery but your pet really needs it and will be the better for it. |

| Now that I don't know for sure. As the uterus would be engorged with blood, I would think it would be more risky but I'm sure no vet. Having only had one female that went had heat in 30 something years - Jilly - I just am not sure. (I had a female puppy, Teddy, for 9 weeks but had to rehome her when Jilly stressed out so over her presence she was losing hair, starving, chewing her ankles nonstop, living on the back of the couch and wouldn't come down EVER when Teddy was out of her crate.) I would wait for some more knowledgeable members here to answer or PM one of the respected, reputable breeders and of course, ask your vet how it is just as safe to go forward with the spay during heat. Go ahead and place a call to them and maybe a couple of other vets offices and see what they tell you they do but I'd trust the longtime owners and breeders here over any unknown vet's office I called out of the blue, to tell you the truth. These women and a perhaps a few gents have years and years combined knowledge in all things Yorkie so see if some of them can't answer your question. Sorry I just am not sure.
