Now that I don't know for sure. As the uterus would be engorged with blood, I would think it would be more risky but I'm sure no vet. Having only had one female that went had heat in 30 something years - Jilly - I just am not sure. (I had a female puppy, Teddy, for 9 weeks but had to rehome her when Jilly stressed out so over her presence she was losing hair, starving, chewing her ankles nonstop, living on the back of the couch and wouldn't come down EVER when Teddy was out of her crate.)

I would wait for some more knowledgeable members here to answer or PM one of the respected, reputable breeders and of course, ask your vet how it is just as safe to go forward with the spay during heat. Go ahead and place a call to them and maybe a couple of other vets offices and see what they tell you they do but I'd trust the longtime owners and breeders here over any unknown vet's office I called out of the blue, to tell you the truth. These women and a perhaps a few gents have years and years combined knowledge in all things Yorkie so see if some of them can't answer your question. Sorry I just am not sure.
