| Put Her Down!!!! I feel like I'm always saying "put her down". My girls are constantly carrying libby around and holding her. They are very gentle with her but sometimes I feel like she isn't getting the rest she needs because they hold her so much. I guess that's why she sleeps so good all night long. She's probably exhausted. Can you hold them to much? Thanks Brenda Libby's mom |

| I dont think it is good for Children to hold them all the time especially if they are young. My male was six weeks when we brought him home and my daughter and us held him alot and he ended up getting stressed and getting diahrea.

| Down time is very important for pups. Limit cuddle time and never ever wake a sleeping pup to play or cuddle, they need lots of rest throughout the day. |

| OH thank GOODNESS! I thought you were talking about euthanasia!!!! I agree with the other folks, pups need their rest and you are right to ask your daughters not to hold the pup all the time. It may be good to have a designated play time during the puppy's daily active period, i.e. say from 8-9am, and 5-6pm where they can romp to their hearts content, and then anytime before or after, leave the puppy alone. Just a suggestion! Good luck!

| Sorry, I didn't even think of that when I posted. Never want to think of that. I don't want them to think that I'm just trying to take the fun out of having a puppy. because they're like "why can't we hold her?" "why did we even get a puppy if we can't hold her". But I explain to them she's just 9 weeks old. She's just a baby. She needs her rest. They are really gentle with her but I agree with everyone else she needs her rest. Just trying to make kids understand, well you know how that can be. So I just wanted to make sure I wasn't being over protective of her. thanks for backing me |

| We have the little children in our family sit or lie down on the floor to play with the Yorkie. We discourage and only rarely let them carry the Yorkie around. When the children and the Yorkie are on the carpet (or a blanket) --they all have a lot more fun. The little pup goes bonkers crazy and runs all over the place...even all over the children jumping on them, kissing them, and yes- evening biting them (he's teething). It's really much more fun for all of them. Frankly - my Yorkie doesn't like to be held by anyone for very long. He just has too much energy to sit still. And - children carrying a Yorkie around can be very dangerous. I was holding the little pup myself once and somehow he pushed against my chest with his feet and just flew out of my arms. He fell all the way to the floor and scared me to death. Fortunately, he was none the worse, but he could easily have broken a bone or have landed on his head. It was very frightening, and it happened so fast that I couldn't stop it. I Carol Jean |
