| I form a "head band" with my thumb and my middle finger....a "U" which I clamp over babys ears....then I rinse the top of the head back, making sure no water goes over my "U" and runs down into babys face....then I have gotten them used to the water (I bathe in the kitchen sink and have one of those sprayers on the side) from the sprayer VERY CAREFULLY, and held almost right against the jaw, they actually like the warm water running right under the outside of the ey, moving forward, low on the jaw, going along the side of the mouth, MAKING SURE TO HOLD THEIR HEAD UP, NOSE HIGH, SO WATER DOESNT RUN INTO THE NOSE......by the time I do the top of the head, both sides of the face all the way almost to the end of the snout in order to get the moustashe.....all that needs to be done is eyes and the top of their snout....I do that with a wash cloth, because once they get water into their nose and they think you are trying to drown them, trust is gone and that is the end of doing it like I do it! |

| Donating YT Addict | Waffles is very good at bath time. We have a pet sprayer in the garage sink and she loves bath time. Stands like a good girl.

| Dogs will by reflex shake when they are wet but if they are submerged or actively being rinsed off they will usually wait. What I do is I wash them in our kitchen sink which is fairly deep I keep a little water in the sink about half way up their legs when I am rinsing them and I make sure that they are continually being wetted by the water until I am finished Then I transfer them right into a waiting towel .... Before they have a chance to shake

| I think I got lucky with my two... They don't 'enjoy' bath time, but they tolerate it. I really do think they enjoy being blow dried though. They will both jump in my lap for me to dry them off I would just make bath time a positive experience... Talk nicely to your pup and tell them how good they are. Giving treats for good behavior might also help.

| Senior Yorkie Talker | well Bella can be a hand full at times. she really doesn't mind the water , but when it comes to her face it's war!!!!! she runs away from me not that she can get far in the sink but it can really be annoying at times. hope it gets better. I'm going tot try the rag on her face that was very useful information

| Georgie is a mess getting a bath and I have to call in reinforcements aka Dad! It's amazing how difficult it is to bathe a 4lb beast and how easy it was to bathe our 75lb Boxer You would think after 7 years of weekly baths sometimes every other week he would be used to it NOPE! I like the face cloth idea!

| Jilly hated bathtime but Tibbe loves it. I just cup water in my hand and pour it over his face to rinse it - over and over and over - takes forever, but he just stands there and let's me do it. If I use a cup or anything, he will duck and dodge some. I rub my finger over his nose if water accidentally rolls over it to clear the water off B4 he can fuss so now he trusts I won't let him get water in his nose. He's a pretty cool customer in the bath, unlike my Jilly used to be. If you will hold onto the dog's ear or a tad of mustache after taking them from the bath, they won't shake and drench you and the walls in water.

| I purchased this Rinse Ace at PetCo. It's the only thing I have ever purchased there and I got it when they were having a 20% off sale. They are also available on Amazon. It has 3 speeds so I can turn the spray down to a slower force so I can do her face. Rinse Ace 3-Way Pet Faucet Sprayer at PETCO She does now have a long moustache so the slow spray level helps me to rinse that hair without getting her whole face wet. I do still use a wet wash cloth for her eyes. I would never just spray her face as that gets water in the nose. Never get water in the eyes and nose. The faster spray of the Rinse Ace is great for rinsing right down to the skin on the body and cuts the bath time almost in half. With a puppy you really need to be as gentle as possible so it does not learn to hate the bath. Many dogs do not like bath time but you want them to at least learn to tolerate it well. Weekly baths help train the pup to accept the bath as a way of life even if they don't enjoy it. |

| When Pao was a puppy, he hates his baths. I bring him in with me and sit him on my lap to bath in the tub and he was freaking out all the time. I finally put a non-skid mat in the tub. It took about 3 years before he finally calms down and is okay with it but never the face. The face is always reserved for wash cloth lol.
