YorkieTalk Newbie! | Please help...I don't know what to do Hello and thank you for reading this.... I have 2 yorkies Lucy Maria and Nikko Bellic turning 4 this yr... Let me give you some history on them..Lucy and Nikko were bought from a breeder (later to find out they came from a puppy mill in brazil)..after a couple of hrs with me they were both admitted to the animal hosp. Lucy had 20% and Nikko had 50% chance of living..after 3days on IV, meds and oxygen they came home for christmas.. Lucy (Thank God) is healthy and hasn't given me any issues ..She has been spayed and easliy potty trained....Nikko on the other half has suffered his whole life with demodex mange... Thank god it seems to be gone (I'm praying it is)...I wasnt able to get him neutered (he will be getting it done in november) has not been abled to be trained correctly..he pees EVERYWHERE...Lucy goes on the wee wee pad..but Nikko goes on shoes ,plants, doors, against his doggie stairs , his cage , his bed and our couch...he'll go on the wee wee pad if it's against the wall..but them he still will pee every else... I put him in his cage but he pees there too... I have to cleaned the couch almost every week ..I clean it with the pet odor cleaners , baking powder, nature cleaner urine destroyer ..but it smells.. I take them outside and he'll go outside but when he comes inside he'll pee just to pee...My boyfriend is at his end point..it's to a point we cant leave anything on the floor...I love my baby and I will not spank him or shove his face in his pee like some other site said to do...please help I need help... Problem 2- they lick the couch..the bed...my leg ....they lick everything....when Lucy is laying there (sleeping or awake) she is licking...can you stop that?? Problem 3 .. Nor Lucy or Nikko when the poop stay still...they walk ..and it's like poop everywhere...I cleaned it up right away...is there a way to get them to stop walking while they poop I'm not a bad mommy...at least I hope not...please help me with my babies |

| Hi and Welcome to YT! Have you tried using a Belly Band on your male? For the licking, a vet check first, then just gentle interference/redirection to refocus their attention. For pooWalkers, add more fiber to their meals, canned pumpkin or green beans. May make it come out quicker and land on the pad. Also reward with a fav item when done close to correctly, this is incentive to have it all on the pad.

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk. I'm glad Lucy and Nikko survived their rough start in life. That must have been very hard on all of you. I agree with Kathy that a belly band would probably help you with Nikko. Use an incontinence pad inside the belly band. To keep them on the pad when they poop...make sure their little rear ends are trimmed and groomed, and I would check each day that the anus is clean. Extra hair, or tiny bits of leftover fecal matter can disrupt the next poop, and cause your pup concern while pooping. If you are home and able to supervise, train your pups to follow the "stay" command on the pad. My Teddy sometimes needs help and he responds to the stay command. (I say it sweetly and follow with "I'll help you." Teddy know help is good). As KJC recommended, follow up with praise and a reward. Definitely use positive reinforcement and not punishment, which will only makes matters worse. Make sure they get regular exercise and drink enough water, both of which will help with pooping. Best wishes!

| Use a belly band. Get your furniture professionally steam cleamed, carpets and rugs too. I had to leash Scoobers to me to break him of marking...catch them in the act everytime. First though all previous urine smells must be removed completely or he will continue to mark over scent he can smell...even when you can't smell it he can.

| What kind of forum tells you to push the dogs face in the urine??? I would also have him checked for a urinary tract infection or possible kidney problems. It's also very possible he has developed stones in the bladder. Although some male dogs do mark it sounds like yours is going excessively. A belly band may help protect your home but is not a complete solution. Obsessions like licking sometimes respond to you redirecting their attention to something else that they like better. Sometimes they learn the behavior from their mother that has been kept caged all it's life. It is going to take consistent redirecting to break the habit. I know with 2 of them doing it the challenge is great. Exercise is also helpful in getting the mind out of obsessive behavior. Do your dogs seem constipated? It' s not unusual for them to go off the edge of the pad once in a while but if they are having trouble getting the poo out I would consider a food change or trying to get them to drink more water. |

| White vinegar is good fir washing stuff in the laundry, wiping down hard surfaces & leather...I use it in ny little green steamer (bissell) if we're going to be out and the house can air out from it. Just blotting it on can cause discoloration on fabrics in sunlight It wilm be well worth the cost to have any fabric surfaces in your house professionally cleaned. I urge people to use a 'green' steam cleaning company as many professional cleaning agents leave behind toxic to pets residues.
