| ok, i feel really stupid in the first place, so please noone yell at me- i just found out today that the breeder of the puppy im picking up on friday, is on that suspension list. i am honestly freaking out- i havent met him yet, but i've already fallen in love with him. i've been advised to call the breeder and ask her for what reasons shes been suspended, which i want to do, but i havent got the balls to. also, she found out for me that the she is also on the USDA too. im assuming this means she is a puppymill now, and im soooo scared. i wish i had checked this list before, but im fairly new to YT. not a good excuse, but i seriously looked high and low for a breeder in my area, and when i found Laura i thought i struck gold- she answered all my questions, asked me TONs of questions, returned my calls, emails, everything. Now, im not so sure i want to work with her, but i dont want to not get my new baby. im just in complete shock right now. i feel so dumb for not looking into my breeder more carefully- all i had to do was google her name!! what do you all recommend i do??? and be honest. [just dont yell at me : /]

| Be upfront- call and ask what is up. If you do not you may get a puppt that you can not register or get your self in a worse mess. be strong and make the phone call. Check the list and see why your breeder is suspended- conditions of the dog care, paperwork or what. It will be a hard decision- but only you can decide if you still wish to buy a puppy from that breeder. With the new pet laws they are trying to get passed- many hobby/show breeders will have to become registered under the USDA in the future. |

| ty guys<3 yes i did put the deposit down, and no she didnt tell me he was akc, but im just worried now because there are endless possibilities of why they're suspended. im just kicking myself in the @$$ over this. i will call her and try to talk to her without bursting into tears like i have already like 5 times since i found out, but i dont want her to think i dont want him just because hes not AKC, which i dont mind, because i dont want to breed or show, but i still dont like knowing that theyve been suspended for the past 5 yrs. i DONT KNOW! im like going crazy. once i get home i will talk things over with my parents and with my bf and see they think also, but theyre not as knowledgeable as you all are. ty so much for getting back to me with your advice. <333

Donating YT 30K Club Member | How do you google a breeder? I would definately find out why she was suspended if it's health related puppy breeding you may change your mind or at least go in with your eyes open. Good luck I know it must be devastating so close to getting him.

| Don't worry about what the breeder thinks if you say you don't want him. Just calm down and take some time to do some research. You should be able to find out why she was suspended. There are so many people on here that are very knowledgable and can direct you to the right websites, etc. Let us help you!

| the worst part of it all, is im still thinking that i want to get him...i feel like maybe i can save him? does that sound dumb?? i dont feel obligated or anything to work with her, i just really want my baby, you know?it said she was suspended for not documenting correctly, and i still think thats a bad enough offense... i just want him to be healthy and thats all, but im not sure i can trust her now :/

You can google anyone or anything.....just go to google and type in name or whatever you want to know....I have found when using a name if you put the name in "" quotes at beginning and end you get better results- As for your problem- call the breeder and just ask straight up...it may be hard but you need to have piece of mind-- tell her you think you still want the pup but have a few more questions....and point out that registration does not matter but you would appreciate clarification....good luck to you and please let us know-

IF this breeder is a puppy mill, you wouldn't be doing a rescue like most people think. The only way this breeder will go out of business is if people quit buying from her. That's why word needs to get out about people with these breeding practices. But unless you go to her facilities, there is no way of really knowing.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | There are several red flags BUT if you really have your heart set on this -- try to make that trip - what you see MAY change your mind - remember - there are LOTS of good breeders out there as well as very bad ones - Being USDA licensed and on the suspension list is not a good sign.... but seeing with your own eyes may be the way to go before you shell out some serious cash. I had an experience with a breeder - Brushy Creek Kennels in Hockley TX... and they emailed me ADORABLE puppy pictures - I think about 6 different pictures - when I made the long drive out there - they showed me a totally DIFFERENT puppy and tried to pawn it off as the one they were emailing me pictures of - So please .....BE CAREFUL ! |
